Tim Burton's Dark Shadows

03:23 Jun 13 2008
Times Read: 599

I've just learned that Tim Burton will direct Dark Shadows, based on the sixties soap opera about vampires, monsters, zombies, and werewolves. He is certainly committed to the gothic subculture, although maybe he is type-casted for these kinds of film projects.

I might have to check that out, I was a fan of both the 70's version and the 90's remake of the series with Ben Cross starring as Barnabus Collins.

I'm not sure it's typecasting when you do something so very well that no one else will do. lol But I'm looking forward to it since I loved the series. Only soap opera worth watching.

Control: The Tragic Tale Of The Singer Of Joy Division

02:58 Jun 05 2008
Times Read: 603

Tonight I am watching the movie "Control: The Tragic Tale Of The Singer Of Joy Division" a film by Anton Corbijn which has just been released on DVD. The movie is entirely in black and white which is appropriate for Joy Division. It is based on the biography written by Ian Curtis's wife and I've already read that book so the film tells a familiar story to me.

Just last night I read the chapter,"Atrocity Exhibitions" in the book "GOTH: Undead Subculture" so there are various things I'm catching in the movie that were mentioned in the article.
