As I leap through the bushes freely,
The leaves carress my fur,
As I run down the unmarked path.
My dark coat keeps me hidden,
From view of those who want to hunt me.
I feast on animals I can catch.
I do not cook my food,
I prefer to rip flesh from bone,
And leave what is left to scavangers,
Who only dine on left overs.
This day I am not hunting for prey,
But to enjoy the freedom to go where I wish.
I have no cares for I am wild,
And free to roam with little fear.
My large paws barely feel the Earth below,
Because my speed is so great,
And all I am thinking about is freedom.
I know soon I must feed,
For my stomach is emptym
And I won't be able to keep up this energy,
But not at this exact moment.
I also know one day I will have to find a mate,
But it won't be today.
The only thing on my mind,
Is running and playing freely,
In the only home I know.
If I were to come to you,
With fear in my eyes,
Would you take me into your embrace,
And make me feel safe?
Would you befriend me,
And call me by my name?
Would you smile,
And look upon me with loving eyes?
Would you take me away,
From this life of pain,
And take me into your world,
Where I may begin anew?
Only one can dream of a life,
Without fear or saddness.
