Im working on my first vampire novel and im only a few pages into it and i have writers block. i cant make up my mind if i want to focus on medieval times or bring it on into modern times. i have not figured out how im gonna turn the main character. or what part of the world to set the story. i have spent the last few days watching all the old classic vampire movies. i want my story to be different. so im trying to find a few answers to some of these questions.
1. why cant vampires cross water? (
2. it is said they must rest in the soil in which they were buried . what if their bodies where cast out to sea? how would this apply? this goes back to the first question
3. vampires are immortal but they have to drink blood to survive. this one has always bugged me a little. i mean why do they have to worry about surviving when they are immortal
4. the thing with the cross and holy water etc.. these didn't come into existence till 2AD. vampires are older then that.
5. the wooden stake. they are dead their hearts do not beat so why the stake in the heart?
5. in the old vampire movies they turned into bats. why? is this the only creature they can turn into?
6. they do not have a reflection in a mirror again why?
7. they must be invited into a persons house before they can enter why?
8. and the whole thing with the daylight.
these are the only questions i can think of for now, i need to find the answers before i can go on with my story. i want the story to make sense. and to explain why things are the way they are. would vampirism be a curse ( by god or magic), a medical condition, or another species all together. should the story be more horror then romance etc.? i would appreciate your ideals.
