I'm getting a better place AND better internet. Hell yeah!

Most of all, I'm getting my girls moved into a better place. The baby wants to go outside and play all the time now that she can run around, and Mel and I just haven't been comfortable taking her out too much in the neighborhood we've been in. This new place is very quiet, almost like being in the country, except it's very close to pretty much everything.

I went ahead and bought some new furniture that Mel wanted, and I have to say, she has excellent taste. If it were up to me, I'd have defaulted to a bunch of skulls and black drapey things or something... which is ONE thing if it's just you, but I have found that most of whatever I have used to decorate our living space in the past is really NOT baby friendly. Not only that, when we get her a little more light and some less intense colors in the house, she's just happier. Took me a minute to adjust to what Mel was trying to do.. I went too far the other way and made the (incorrect) assumption that everything was going to start showing up in things like "country blue" and such. What she's actually doing is a more eclectic, light art deco feel.. lots of chocolate browns with bright jewel tones of teal and violet and even a little burgundy. Simple furniture.. mostly minimalist, but with a few bohemian-type touches thrown in.

Perhaps even better, she's been running this move with an iron fist. lol. That's actually a good thing, as I have a tendency to get very very ADHD and distracted. The last time we moved she had a plan in place and I kinda.. went off track and started projects in all of the rooms at once. She said that shit was NEVER happening again, and it shouldn't. One of the reasons this move has been such a pain in the ass, is that we're actually still finding things we had to throw (and leave) in boxes when we ran out of time before and had to just pick up all of my half-finished 'projects' and move them in here. We're getting rid of everything we don't need and gave away the stuff that the baby isn't using to a family who just had a baby girl and can really use stuff (like a practically new walker, baby bathtub, bouncy seat, etc.. all of it in lovely shades of pink). Mel took serious care of all of the baby's things.. she wouldn't even wash the baby's clothes with ours. I'm kinda glad now because all of the stuff we gave this family is in excellent condition.

Mel got a part-time job working from home through the same place she helped me get a job at, and I'll be damned if it doesn't look like she may end up making more money than me! LOL. I think she'd be doing better if she had more time to work on it, but she doesn't work until I'm home so that the baby is always getting plenty of attention. I told her she doesn't have to work.. but she's just that way. Total Type-A, real go-getter... I was at one point worried that she'd have a hard time staying home with the baby because of it, but she really can't stand leaving her with anyone else and wants to be with her all the time. She's the best mom I've ever seen.. I know I may sound biased, but seriously. I don't think I have ever known a mother more devoted to her child. I'm damn lucky and so is our baby.

ok.. more later. Gotta try and organize some baby things. lol
