James was studying for his test and for some reason couldn't focus on his reading. It had been a long night, but it had to be productive. Outside the wind hit the trees and the noise wasn't helping him. Suddenly the room got cold... a strange perfume came from outside, and his sharp sense of smell got it immediately, something like .... "sweet" he thought. He stood up and walked towards the windows and closed it. He was about to lock it when a gust of wind opened it again violently, throwing him backwards and making him fall down. "What the...?" he said aloud.
When he could stand up again, he felt her presence... he wasn't alone anymore... "Hi, James" she said smiling. "Finally we meet". Slender, black long hair and bright green eyes. "Don't you recognize me?" she asked, still smiling. Her lips, opened in a genuine friendly smile, showed her long sharp canines. James remained silent for a long time, without being able to articulate a word. One second ago, he was alone in his room with the door locked, to avoid his family to interrupt him, and suddenly there's a girl in front of him... and not an ordinary girl... but a vampire.
"James, it's me Raine!!" she said and walked to him. Instinctively, he stepped back. Her smile changed and her eyes suddenly had a sad look. "Please, don't be afraid, I would never attack you, James" she said, almost in a whisper.
"Sorry, Raine, I'm so sorry, it wasn't my intention" he said, walking closer and taking her hands "it's good to see you, but how did you get in here?".
"The key brought me to you" she said. "I came because I need your help"
"The Key?" he asked puzzled.
"The key to open the book, Adek" she explained, calling him by his true name.
"The book of Darkness?" he asked looking at her seriously.
"Yes, that book. I found the key and I need your help to bring it here" she said, while introducing her hand underneath her clothes to reveal a pendant. It was a round metallic medallion with two symbols in it, one on each side.
"I recognize those symbols" said James, taking the pendant out of her hands. "The wolves and the vampires. The symbols of the two Mighty Houses"
"Yes, both houses have joined and they have decided to open the book for all humans to know about us" she said.
"How do you know all that?" James asked.
"Adek, you're a werewolf" she said. "You should have felt it. As i did. You know it ... deep in your heart, you know it"
Adek didn't answer... he knew what she was talking about. The mark of the wolf had appeared in his arm and he felt the calling, but how could he recognize what he was in front of others? His family would never believe what he was... "the prophecy" he muttered at last... touching the inner side of his forearm.
"yes, exactly" Raine said, putting her hand on his shoulder. "The world is facing a new era… in which the night creatures will reign… not only at night… the secret is about to be opened… and the day will soon be ours as well…." she recited. "and that's why I'm here, Adek, to take you to our world... to make things happen".
"and how will we get there?" he asked.
"easy, show me your forearm" she said, extending her hand. Adek, pulled his long sleeve up and showed the symbol of the wolf. Raine took the pendant and placed the wolf symbol on his mark, and then placed her own arm with the vampire symbol on the pendant.
The room filled in with a white light and the floor seemed to shake under their feet. Instinctively they held each other with their free arms, without letting the pendant go and closed their eyes to avoid the dizziness of the room moving around.
When they opened their eyes the room had disappeared, they were in the open air, at night, and there was a huge castle at the top of a hill.
"We're here, Adek" she said, taking the pendant and putting it back around her neck.
"and where's 'here' exactly?" he asked looking around.
"Not in the plane you know. This is Transylvania, the Eternal" she said. "and we're kinda late, so it's better for us to go as we naturally do"
"what do you mean?" Adek asked again, looking at her.
"turn into a wolf and run" she said, and after that she opened her arms and flew.
"wait...." he muttered, but she was gone. "turn into a wolf" he said... trying to figure out how would that be possible... it had never happened to him on purpose... the last time he turned was because he was in danger and he simply reacted... but now... "maybe if i think of it" he thought. Then in a moment, he felt a burn in his arm... "the mark" he thought. And he felt it coming... fell down on the floor on his hands and knees and the transformation was imminent. Under the moonlight, the white wolf was already running to the castle. Raine was looking at him from the roof.

In the castle, the Council of the Houses was already gathered. The door opened and they entered. The Ancients of both races were talking about the war… all of them were really concerned about the decisions the Council was about to make. Some of them wanted to go to the war, others, didn’t want to …
“Which war?” Adek whispered.
“Wolves and vampires are fighting together to defend our land from the Deviants” Raine whispered back.
“Deviants?” Adek asked.
“Basic Demons, evil and vicious, coming from a lower plane. They want to destroy us… they have killed our people and fed of us, transforming our race in monsters…” she said, looking into his eyes.
“and why are we here? I mean, this battle is not real… Transylvania no longer exists… right?” he asked her.
“Adek, this is not the past… this is the future, our future…” Raine said.
Adek then understood that they were there to make things happen, as Raine said in his room… if they failed… there won’t be a future…
************************************************************************
He was lost in his thoughts when one of the Ancients walked to them.
“Raine, Adek, welcome home” the Ancient said and gave them a warm hug.
He was a vampire, young in body but his eyes showed he had lived too much.
“Our Houses have been waiting for this moment” he continued “for a long time”.
“The Houses finally agreed in going to the war. So you both will command both armies…”, and saying that, the Ancient left them.
“What… what does it mean, Raine?” Adek asked.
“It means that we have to fight Adek… the time came and now the Deviants must be destroyed” she said, taking his hand. “You’ll do it great”
“And how are we supposed to do it?” Adek wanted to know the whole truth.
“We’re not alone in this…” Raine said. “Come with me”.
She took him into another room, where some men were gathered.
“Guys! Good to see you!!” she greeted them happily. “Let me introduce you a friend of mine!”
The men walked towards her and hugged her tenderly.
“Raine… good to see you… we were missing you” said one of the boys, tall and handsome.
“I missed you too, Kalgor” said Raine hugging him back.
“Sweetie, good to have you back” said a slender boy, with black hair and white skin.
“Silver… it’s good to be back... did you miss me?” she said… he hugged her nodding.
“For a moment we wanted to go through the veil and look for you” said a blond boy, tall and smiley.
“Dark angel, you couldn’t know where I was!” said Raine playfully…
“Well, well… look who’s back here… and who’s the boy?” said a big, tall guy, with clear Werewolf traits.
“Werewolf!!” shouted Raine, wrapping her arms around his neck. “I missed you too” she said teasing.
“Guys, this is Adek, and he’s the one commanding the werewolves for the battle” she said while taking Adek’s hand and bringing him to the circle.
“Hi, nice to meet you” said Adek.
“Nice to meet you too” all of them repeated while shaking hands.
“So you’re the Alpha…” said Werewolf looking at Adek curiously.
“Werewolf!” Raine said. “That wasn’t nice”
“Hey ... I’m just asking” replied Werewolf.
“That’s what the Ancient said” Adek said. “But I still don’t understand what he meant”.
“It means that we’re in charge of unifying the armies against the Deviants. We need to win this battle, Adek” Raine said.
“Now, we have to find the way to cross the veil” said Dark Angel. “They are attacking our dragons”
“We can go in our dragons and open the portal for our people to cross…” Raine suggested.
“Ours are the last ones, Raine… if the Deviants attack them, we’re lost” said Werewolf.
“Well, let’s call them … we need ours to wake up the Silver Dragon for Adek” she said.
“Do you think that prophecy is true?” asked Silver.
“Today we’ll know Silver” Kalgor said, walking to the door… all of them followed him.
****************************************************************
Out of the castle, the six friends walked to the lap of the hill… to call their dragons. When they got there, Kalgor was the first to call his. He closed his eyes and suddenly from one of the caves in the mountain the red dragon appeared. The dragon flew towards Kalgor and landed in front of him… Silver followed and closed his eyes also, calling his dragon… this time, a blue dragon came up flying from the lake… Werewolf crossed his arms in front of his chest and closed his eyes… the lap of the mountain cracked and the yellow dragon flew to his master landing close to the others… Dark Angel extended his arms and the green dragon came flying down from the sky… Raine closed her eyes as well, and the earth moved under their feet when the mountain erupted in fire to let the black dragon come out.
It seemed that the dragons knew what they had to do… flying up in the sky they marked a circle, and suddenly the portal got open…
“Now, Adek” Raine said. “Call your dragon”
“How?” Adek asked looking up to the portal in the sky.
“Call the Silver dragon using telepathy” she explained.
Adek closed his eyes and followed the instructions. The portal in the sky opened wide and the silver dragon came down… flying to Adek…. Flying faster … as if it was about to attack him. The panic took over Raine and her friends, but Adek just closed his eyes standing still...
Suddenly the dragon landed in front of him... when Adek opened his eyes, the silver dragon was knelt in front of him.
"Hi, Blaze" Adek said, touching the dragon in the head.
His friends could only smile...
*********************************************
They returned to the castle to join the army and follow with the plan. They would cross the veil and keep the portal opened for the rest of the army of vampires and werewolves to cross.
They were all having dinner that night... they knew that next morning will be decisive... they had to fight and win because their land was in real danger. The Deviants were like a Plague... if they found a place, they destroyed it completely... there were no life anymore and then they left it looking for another place.
Raine was looking through one of the windows... the waxing moon showed that they had to act quickly... two more nights and the werewolves will be dangerous... full moon will turn them into their wild state...
"what are you thinking of?" asked Werewolf, standing behind her.
"we have to be quick and precise... we'll have full moon in two more nights" she said without turning back.
"yeah... " he whispered. "I'd like to find an antidote or something to avoid the transformation"
"our team is working on that Werewolf" she turned back to hold him tight.
In one of the corners Adek was sitting on the floor, also thinking. Raine looked at him and silently walked to him. "are you okay, Adek?" she asked sweetly.
"Raine, I'm worried" he said, looking at her in the eyes. "My parents must be worried because I'm not at home"
"Time doesn't exist here, Adek" she said, taking his hand. "One minute there, can be a century here, so don't worry".
He took her hand too and smiled. "there's something else you should be worried about though" she said. "in two more nights, we'll have full moon. And here... werewolves have to move far until it passes... but you won't be alone. Werewolf will help you".
"But i can transform into a wolf, and I'm not dangerous!" Adek said looking at her. "The moonlight here will provoke another transformation... you'll turn into a werewolf... the wolf will take over your human shape, that's why it's dangerous... if that happens here... you could kill me because you wouldn't recognize me" Raine explained.
Adek went to sleep with the other soldiers in the big room, next day will be the most incredible day in his life, and he had to be rested and prepared...
*************************************************************************************
When he woke up, Raine was already dressed up and taking her weapons. Silver and Werewolf were close to her joking and laughing, Kalgor was serious and looked worried, Dark Angel was sitting on the floor meditating. All of them were getting ready for battle.
"Did you sleep well?" Raine asked him sweetly.
He nodded and put on the armour. His swords seemed heavier than they were.
"Are you ready guys?" Kalgor said finally. "Adek, Raine, gather the troops. Werewolf, Silver and Dark Angel, come with me to call the dragons" he left the room and the boys after him. Werewolf hugged Raine before leaving, something unreadable in his eyes.
When Raine and Adek went downstairs to the Castle grounds, they saw the vampire and werewolves soldiers ready.
"Vampires, Werewolves" Raine shouted. "Today is the day we've been looking for. Today will be the day in which our races will defend their freedom and their right to live".
"Today we won't let the enemy to take us" Adek continued. "We will defend our land, our people... but we will be merciless... we'll take them and kill them all"
"C'mon my soldiers... be careful and don't let them hurt you. Today the Deviants will be exterminated!" and saying that, Raine and Adek led the troops to the field, where the boys waited with the dragons.
Adek jumped on Blaze and gave the others the signal, one moment later the six friends were flying up in the sky, riding their dragons when Raine took out her pendant and opened the veil.
The portal opened and the dragons crossed first, then the rest of the army. Vampires and Werewolves aligned one close to the other, like a wall. Vampires and werewolves as one, ready to fight... ready to follow the instruction of their leaders up in the air.
Adek gave the signal and the army run towards the enemy, killing as many as they could... Swords in hand, the vampire warriors cut the Deviant's bodies into pieces. The werewolves jumped on them and stabbed their bodies with their spears.
The Deviant Army was huge in number but they weren't good at fighting so what the warriors couldn't kill, the dragons exterminated with their fire.
Raine jumped down from their dragon to the ground and taking her both swords, fought against the enemy bravely. Adek did the same helping her. Both back to back, helping the army to defeat the Deviants.
The battle was about to end when Raine killed the last two deviants and run to help the troops... some of them were bitten, so they had to be killed.
There was a vampiress who was laying on the ground "Raine, my princess, I want to die as a vampire. Please... don't let me die as a monster" she begged, crying. Raine knelt by her side and looked at her sweetly "you'll die as the warrior you are ..." It meant that she will be taken to the castle and she would wait for the first sun rays of Dawn.
The six friends were helping the wounded when Raine felt it... a spear flew directly to her, stabbing her from the back, through and through. She could turn around to see the one who owned it, the Deviant was badly hurt... Werewolf shouted and run to him cutting his body into pieces... but it was a bit late... Raine took her sword and cut the tip of the spear and took the stick out and fell down on her knees... Sahir, her dragon flew fast and took her back to the castle, crossing the veil, while Silver led the vampires back home, opening the veil with Raine's pendant, which was on the ground when she fell down. Adek guided the werewolves and all of them returned back home.
Sahir flew to the Waterfall and dropped her down into the water... Kalgor, Werewolf, Adek, Dark Angel and Silver jumped down their dragons and run to the pond to see her. The sun was about to set and Raine looked at Werewolf, taking Kalgor's hand to stand up. "Werewolf, please ... lead your men and Adek to the mountains... it's time"
"Will you be ok?" Werewolf asked her looking into her eyes, really worried. "Will you be here when i come back?"
"I will... " she tried to nod.
"I won't leave you, Raine" Adek said.
"you have to... in a couple of hours you'll be fully transformed and you can't stay" she said almost whispering, running her fingers through Adek's hair.
"Werewolf, please take him to a safe place"
Werewolf took Adek with him ... Adek didn't want to go and held Raine tightly, afraid of the fact that he might not see her again. Werewolf picked him up and walked away. Adek shouting Raine's name.
She was too weak... her eyes were now closing and her mind had nothing more than a blackness.....
************************************************************************
When she opened her eyes she was laying on her bed... she knew because she could feel the softness of the bed covers... when her sight got clearer, she could see her friends looking at her. Silver, sitting on the bed, smiling at her, Dark angel, standing to her side, with relief in his eyes. Kalgor was sitting on her side too, taking her hand. "welcome back, princess" Kalgor said, smiling. "you really scared us to death" Silver said. "for a moment we thought you wouldn't wake up" Dark angel said kneeling by her bed, taking her right hand.
She could only smile in silence... but her eyes were looking for Werewolf and Adek. "They are not come back yet" Silver said, guessing her question. "We're sure they will come back soon, though" Dark Angel said. "Yes, Raine, please rest now" said Kalgor, placing his hand in her forehead. Suddenly the blackness came back to her mind... but this time her heart was calmed and peaceful.
