Yes, another debate on whether the Big Guy is really up there or not...
I've seen very many points of view on this topic...and recently I've looked up on Google the topic "Mistakes in the Bible". Very many mistakes have been pointed out and I've even looked up the lines myself in my Tanakh. In one part, the line reads:
"Then the LORD said, "The outrage of Sodom and Gomorrah is so great, and their sin so grave! I will go down to see whether they have acted altogether according to the outcry that has reached Me; if not, I will take note."
~ Genesis 18:20-21 ~
What's so special about that, you may ask? Well for one thing, let's see...if God is so omnipotent, why does he have to personally come down to earth and check on the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah? He's supposed to be fucking "all-knowing"! That's part of the definition for "omnipotent"!
But of course two lines don't completely throw my beliefs on life off-scale. I mean, totally forsaking the Bible, why not just believe in a God without the books? If he has endless love and forgiveness, he should be able to forgive all of those people who aren't believing in the "right religion" or those who just don't know what religion to stay with. He should understand the difficulties of trying to find the right religion, and how absurdly impossible it is to prove one religion wrong in today's society.
That's a lot of what I believe. If there is a God, and I'm still a little skeptical but not totally sure, then I think he would be cool with me doing what I feel in my heart is right, and not pissed off at me and trying to smite me because I didn't choose the exact religion or sub-division of a religion.
Some people even go as far as to support Zecharia Sitchin's belief...the belief that we were actually created ourselves by ALIENS, from a different planet who have already evolved, and put us here to test us. That actually isn't as absurd as saying some omnipotent dude came, created us, and we're all going to hell if we can't figure out which of the 1,000 + religions there are on this Earth.
But like I said...the way I see it is we're here to make joy for ourselves, and to do what we feel is right in our hearts. Although we may do a little weird things every now and then, we still should try following the morals and basic belief on right and wrong which we are born with...but those morals can disappear depending on time and circumstances. All those corrupted people...well let's just say maybe they're robots or something put here to disgust us...hmm...who knows.
I'm going to start criticizing all religions...being an atheist or atheist jew seems more reasonable now..just lay back and then see which religion "God" seems to favor more. LOL
