We danced to a thousand songs,
I could feel his body,
Near mine and oh so lovely,
All I wanted was to love him,
And to have that love returned.
When our lips met for the first time,
It was like bolts of lightning,
Coursing through every vein,
Overwhelming my system and leaving me breathless.
And the hours on the clock,
Vanished into the night.
Together,
We are timeless.
They tell us from day one,
Welcome to the greatest country son.
But how can this be?
When it doesn't even care about me!
And let's not get into all the others who've been oppressed,
By a society governed by a religion,
That teaches hate and breeds ignorance.
Let's not think about how it was only just a few years ago,
That beating a gay kid became specifically recognized.
And let's not think about all the women,
Who were raped and are forced to bear her rapists child.
Let's forget about all the slaves,
And the fact that we were the last country to get rid of slavery.
And don't even worry about,
How a system so crooked,
Screws us over every second.
Let's all just stand up,
Say the pledge of allegiance,
And bow down to the ignorant indoctrination,
That this,
Is the greatest nation.
So when you lie awake at night,
Please think about what you say,
This place isn't the greatest,
Hell,
Who's to say it even touches the top ten?

I stopped saying the Pledge when I was a Senior in HS. I refused to stand up. One other and me. The teacher would look and shake his head, but he never made an issue out of it. Now, at sporting events, I will stand, but never place my hand over my heart. Nor will I recite any words. As I have said before, there is more to it than faux loyalty to some country or flag.
But, I will tell you, at least you have the freedom to write what you did above, and no one is going to report you, and you will not be hauled away, at least not today.
Same here. I refuse to even consider saying it until I am no longer a second class citizen. And who's to say I will then?
Note that I never said this is the worst country.
