I looked around and I found myself in the middle of a classroom. I was alone. I shook my head and tried to gather my bearings. I tried to move my arms.... only to discover they were chained to the chair I was sitting in.
I heard a laugh. One that sounded as though it came from a little girl. She emerged from behind me. Her dress was a pure white, and her hair was a gold. But he eyes is what got me. They were red.
"Wh... who are you?" I weakly muttered.
"I am Trita." Her voice had a soft pleasntness to it.
"Why... why am I here?"
She just gave a giggle.
I looked up and found myself allured by her eyes.
Then she said, "The one you find yourself so curious about isnt all he seems to be. He has a past. A very, very bad one."
Suddenly, my mind was hit with a torrent of images.
I saw a little blonde hair boy cowering in his front room, as the front door to his home crashed in. Men in suits came through and knocked his dad down and held him, while others grabbed the boy and his mother. I saw as they tried to take them out of the house, and then the little boy lost control and attacked all the men. Leaving the walls coated in blood, and bodies strewed in his wake.
I screamed out as the images stopped.
"And yet that isnt the worst..."
"What the hell do you want with me?!?!" I screamed, cutting her off.
"Dont interupt me while I'm speaking." But instead of her pleasnt voice, a deep growl erupted from her chest.
Then it felt as if I was on fire. Like ever part of my being was consumed, like there was no air to breath.
Then I jolted up in bed, awakend from the dream.
His vision had plagued me. No matter where I looked I still saw his beautiful face. I still remember how the moonlight shimmered across his skin. The vampire that kissed and ran.
I am ripped from my memories by the ringing of my cell phone. I glance down at the screen. I sigh and roll my eyes, smiling. Its Nick, my crazy best friend.
"Hello" I say.
"Yes is there a man there by the name of Mr.Handsome?" I hear Nick say.
I laugh uncontorablly. "Nick, what do you want?"
"Listen, tonight at my house, I am throwing this huge masquerade. You should come a join us." I can hear the smile on his lips.
"Look, I dont know if..."
I am cut off. "You need to get out of that house. Hey, I know things have been tough on you since that night, but you need some fresh air. Come on." He pleads.
After that night in which some of my best friends were murdered, I had gone into a depression. If it wasnt for Nick, I would still be far in it.
"Ill think about it."
"You better come, or else"
So, later on, I dig through my closet, praying I can find a masquerade mask. I get lucky and find one from a few years back. I try it on and it still fits perfectly. Looks like I would be going to Nicks masquerade.
I pull up and the place is gorgeous with low lighting and there he is on the front steps, greeting guests. Something about him makes my heart stop for just a fraction of a second. I chide myself and climb out and walk up the front steps. He greets me with a kiss on the cheek.
"If you dont stop it, people are gonna think we're together." I mummble into his ear.
"And your point is?"
I laugh and walk into the house. The music is amazing. It some sort of soft, instrumental music. I am at the fridge pulling out a soda when Nick shows up.
"Oh no you dont. No, no, no. Tonight, you will be drinking naughtily." He smiles devishly.
He pulls out a bottle of beer and hands me one. I figure what the hell, and pop it open.
The night contiues on, dancing, lauging, drinking. The party finally winds down and just a few people are left, and those few are passed out.
I go and look for Nick. I hadnt seen him in a while. I go upstairs, having no luck on the down stairs. I find him on his balcony, just off his bedroom. He is staring out into the night sky.
"Nick, what are you doing up here alone?" I say, approaching him.
He turns and looks at me. "Just thinking."
"Well can you come in and think? Its really cold out here."
He laughs and walks inside. I close the double doors behind us. Suddenly, I am aware of just how intimate his bedroom really is. He turns to look at me, and in that instance, I am aware of how beautiful he really is.
He draws close to me, lips mere inches from mine. I am so nervous I cant even say a word. His lips brush mine and that was all it took. I lost control. We become entangled, throwing clothes, moaning, kissing. The works.
We fall onto his bed. And passion goes wild.
The next morning, the streaming sunlight wakes me up. I find Nick cuddled up to my side. His gorgeous brown hair splayed acorss his face. I almost cry when I climb out and leave him a note on his desk.
I go outside and climb into my car and drive away.
I wonder what his face will look like when he reads the note. The note read "I'm sorry".
-Jared-
The click of the wooden stake sliding into my crossbow was one of pure satisfaction. I loved the thrill of the hunt. I armed both of my hidden stake carriers that were on the undersides of my forearms... in case things got real desperate tonight. We had heard rumor of a coven heading through town... and we would be waiting.
I looked around the group. Six of us in all. Trent, Alexia, Rayne, and Brent. And then there was me.
"If anyone wants to, now is the time to back out" I said.
"The Founding ones didnt stop did they, Jared?" Rayne said, her auburn hair looked like a flame.
"Good point" I smiled.
The rest of the group nodded. To hate vampires... we were real blood thristy.
"Last check on ammo and weapons." I said.
I heard rustling and more clicking.
"Everyones got their armor on, and charms?"
I saw nodding.
"Then we are off."
We loaded into the back of the van. Five of us in the back with Trent driving. The coven was rumored to be coming in through a ravine in the west side of town. I knew that area well, and the ravine was rough. It was going to be a tough ambush for us. Trent gunned it and we drove until we were within a half mile of the ravine, then we set out on foot. We didnt want the vampires smelling exausht fumes when there wasnt even a road near that place.
It was dark when we got there and we could barely see. I had Brent dug in at the highest and most secretive place, equipped with a high powered cross bow, with a night vision scope to be our eyes and ears.
"Testing one two." Brents voice came over mine and the others earpieces.
"We can hear you." I said.
"No movement down there yet." He said.
We stood waiting for at least thirty minutes, when he came back on.
"You guys, here they are. And they are defintley vampires. No doubt. Im counting four."
Good they were outnumbered.
"I see two males and two females. Closely pacted. They dont look suspecting."
"Fire on my mark Brent." I said softly.
We crept to the ridge of the ravine and could plainly see their stark skin in the pale moonlight. And the leading and dominant looking male of the group... was goregous. I would hate killing him I knew already. I heard a strange noise over the headset. A silent squeal maybe.
"Brent come in. Are you there?"
The group just looked at me.
"Brent!" I said.
Just then the coven fanned out... and fast. We didnt even see where they went.
"Stay low guys."
A blur came buy, taking out Trent in one go. He was dead. I aimed my cross bow and feared the worst for Alexia and Rayne. This was bad.
I turned and they were gone. Just gone. I was on such an adrenilen rush. I quickly took in my surroundings. I moved quickly. Then I was suddenly blocked by one of the feamales.
"Oh how precious. He has a cross bow." She sneered, tiliting her head to the side.
I didnt think. I just saw her chest and squeezed the trigger and sent a wooden stake flying through her heart. Killing her.
I heard a scream from a man and saw a male vampire rush to her side. I squeezed off a round but he dodged it. Only two stakes left. I shot again and missed. One left. He showed right in front of me and I hit him square in the chest. He went down. Leaving only two more I knew of. I threw the cross bow down but didnt dare reval that I had concealed weapons. Then the others appeared. The other girl, another guy, and then him. The amazing one.
His beauty was so astounding. I had never seen one such as so. He looked as though an sculptor made their masterpiece out of him. His red lips were very contrasting to his pale skin.
"Dont attack." I heard him say in a soft voice.
They hissed. I could tell they wanted me dead. Well, the feeling was mutual. Execpt for the one. I dont know if I could bring myself to strike him. I dont know what it was...
"We cant let this one go." The other male said.
"You WILL obey my orders. Or else I will have the high council deal with you."
This was confusing to me, but he backed off. The stuning one stepped forward, away from the pact. He examined me in one sweeping glance. One that made me shutter.
"You guys... leave. Now. And I mean go far from here. Dont worry Ill just trace your scent when I'm ready. And I will be listening. If I hear you... I will handle you myself."
They fled in a blur.
Then it was just us.
He drew near slow. I counted his paces, waiting for him to get just close enough. Then he was close... fast. I sent one stake out and the tip rested on his chest as fast as I could get it there.
"Do it." He said softly.
I shuddered inwardly.
"I... I will I swear. I wont give it a second thought."
"Then why am I not dead?" He smiled.
He looked into my eyes, something I knew never to do. To look one of them in the eyes. His golden hair fell across his forehead. It looked like a halo in the moonlight.
He gave me a soft, but amazing kiss on the lips.
Then he was gone off into the night.
