Another Family Update

20:22 Nov 29 2008
Times Read: 721

I've talked a bit more with my brother the other day and he had a small setback of badnews. It turns out Florida isn't going to be his only visit while he's on leave. So, he's saving up for a few more days of leave time and prolly won't be coming down until sometime in February. This, of course, works out really well too b/c that will be my and Christy's 2nd Anny.

All things happen for a reason, right? I've waited nearly 18 years, what's a couple more months?

Family Tales for the Holiday Season

18:41 Nov 15 2008

A little over three weeks ago, Christy and I were up at the VA for one of my always fun-filled monthly appointments. First of all, the absolute worst part of the VA, is parking. Even if you so happen to get there early, or use the poor excuse of a Valet service, it takes at least half an hour to....get out of the car. ARRG...But, moving right along... I finish up with the first phase of my visit and we take a stroll down to the VA Cafe. I call it the small slice of heaven in an otherwise no-mistake, inescapable vortex. I’m tellin' ya, this Cafe is blissfully awesome for the Vets. It has a staff consisting of at least two volunteers at any given time; a huge TV; six fully internet equipped computers (all of which are wheelchair friendly); couch, tables, chairs, ect.; snack bar, including small sodas, hot chocolate, coffee, chips, even hot dogs; and the best part... wait for it... all of it's free of charge to us and whomsoever family members we might have with us.

Well then, after being generously catered with some hot cocoa, I wheel myself over to a comp and take a peek into my Myspace account. Which, btw, is another wonderful aspect compared to the very restricted public library usage. Funny, I can't access that site but I can log onto VR without a hitch. Oh, if they only knew that tidbit of humor lol. Anyway, and Amazing even flashes before my eyes: there's a message from the only full-blooded sibling I have, my brother, Jeremy. Come to think of it, he's the only sibling I genuinely care for and click with extremely well. So, of course, I'm utterly thrilled and completely excited, especially considering the last word I'd heard from him was about him joining the Army, over a year ago. Yes, it's true, my bro's a Grunt and I soooo had to poke a little fun at him...hehehehe

Now, besides being back in touch with Jeremy through e-mail, I haven't talked to, nor even seen him face to face in just less than 17 years or so. We can all thank the good-for-nothing-horrible-excuse-for-a-father sperm donor for that one. Ahem...anyway, he updates me about his life for the moment; like I said, he's in the Army, He's also married, and stationed somewhere in New York. And for the really REALLY great news? He might be able to come down and visit for Christmas!!!!

I have no idea what's going to happen next, but I know for damn sure I'll have quite a lot more to be thankful for during this holiday season. With any luck, I'll be able to have many more like it in the near and far off future. Although I might drive Christy and the boys a little more crazy this year, that's just one more beautiful benefit to having such a terrific family. Thanks, and I love you guys, including you, Woman ;-)
