A ray of light
burning darkly
throughout the sky.
I stopped to look
and realized

Midnight Sun had Arised!

took my pain

Finally,
I have met my panther.
The perfect half to make a whole
but, ahh, sadness, for I shall never know
as he is leashed to another.
His pelt was short yet dark and thick.
Lithe body that rippled with muscles,
his movements graceful, powerful
yet at the same time, he could play.
A joyful dance of recognition
the chase was on.
We darted to and throw,
an ancient dance of courtship.
We growl, hiss and bite.
We delight within each others company
teasing, pouncing and playful.
Then stillness,
waiting in the dark,
we lie there each separately thinking
our own dark thoughts.
One of us must make the move.
Crouched…twitching with anticipation,
he cries his intentions,
awaiting my reply,
each mating call getting stronger and stronger.
Suddenly he leaps into the field roaring his intentions.
His strength of heart
awakens within me a storm of lighting.
Slowly, I crept out of the long shadows
my eyes glow in the half light.
I approach dominantly yet timid.
We rub nuzzles,
nipping at each other, nuzzling on the necks.
With a playful push, I become the submissive and he the dominant.
Growls and purrs of passion
leap into the night air.
At long last we sleep,
Side-by-Side, a short nap.
As he sleeps, I watch over him.
Feelings wage a battle within me,
I will cherish our time for it is short.
As dawn approaches, we wake nuzzling each other.
Dancing the dance of departure,
we promise more
only to have it end suddenly
with no final movement.
