So I watched the new Dracula TV series on TV the other night, did anyone else see it? Your thoughts? What did you think of Jonathan Rhys Meyers performance as Dracula? I've always thought of him as a decent actor, fairly good but I just didn't feel like he made a very good dracula, ehhhh.

I saw it and I liked it. I thought he was very good. In this version he is Vlad the Impaler and if you look at the paintings of him he is slight in body, thin and so I think in that way he fits well. They sort of changed up the story. It has some things like the book but Coppolla is the one that introduced the Vlad idea in characterizing the story. It is not so in the book. Here he also is fighting against the Order of the Dragon. I thought the ideas very refreshing but I like Meyers and always have so it is too premature for me to say good or bad but he is a fine actor and I think over time he will do the story justice. The story is much more subtle than those in the movies and it seemed more realistic if one was to believe the paranormal end of things. I like his Renfield...very cool.

The holidays. So much work. Trying to remember why it used to be fun. That magic you feel as a kid just isn't coming through anymore. I have a huge family and yet we couldn't be further apart, and I'm not just talking about distance. Really kind of sad. I probably could put forth more effort on my end but it's really all I've ever known and quite frankly I'm not much of a "motherly, touchy, feely" kind of person. Neither were my parents nor theirs.

I really start to feel my shortcomings this time of year. Ah pooey.

Just because you're not touchy-feely doesn't mean you're a great mom. We all have different love languages- it doesn't mean anyone loves better or worse than another person. I hope you start to feel the warmth of the holidays and that you and your family can come closer together...but there always seem to be times in life where we're closer to our family than others. If the time is not now, the time will come again :)

We spent the day in the city yesterday, it's a few hours away, saw Gravity at the Imax in 3D, great movie but definitely one you want to see in 3D, wouldn't be the same otherwise. Did some Christmas shopping for Justin, had lunch at Twigs Martini Bar and dinner at The Outback. We just had a good time in each others company and he was so patient shopping! lol ;)
