If one voice can make a difference,
Let me begin the change
I would speak against indifference
For few worse crimes remain
To know your fellow man needs you
And yet you turn away
Saying you’re not your brother’s keeper
Let someone else fill that space
But you are your brother’s keeper
As your brother is your own
Would you want him to turn away
When the need that’s felt is your own?
Unchecked down my face, flow a river of tears
My soul screams out in pain
How could something so bright and promising
Turn into so much agony and despair?
At what point did you decide to betray me?
Was it when I surrendered my heart or
Had you already made your plans of deceit?
No mind, it doesn’t really matter, for what is done
Is done and nothing will erase my heartbreak.
But you know this you twisted evil thing,
I’ll heal and come back stronger.
My tears will dry, my soul become muffled
My heart will scab over in time.
I’ll never forget the lesson I’ve learned but
I’ll find real love sometime.
I would crawl across broken glass but it
Can't undo the damage I have caused.
Your trust is gone, the destruction all my own.
Why did I tell you a lie?
The reasons seem so silly now.
You have left me. I stand alone.
I deserve your scorn but have pity too
My lesson learned at the expense of my broken heart.
