If the idiots in the US Congress let us go over the so-called "fiscal cliff" I pray they go first and let the rest of us land on them!
Happy Holidays everyone. I hope you all have a warm place to stay, plenty to eat and someone to share time with in happiness.
It's been a good Christmas here, with the kids getting way too much of everything and I got more than enough to make me a very happy girl. Well except for that great looking, considerate, rich guy that was not in my stocking again this year. Darn Santa always holds out on me!
VW came over last night and hung out with us while the kids opened most of their gifts, snapping a few shots when they would let her. Too much paper flying in the air to get many I think. lol
I'm sitting here now watching my sister struggle to put together the Chuggington world playset which is taking up the whole living room floor. She's also trying very hard not to say bad words in front of Adam who is like a mina bird especially in bad language.
We've had some sad news this holiday with my Mom's double first cousin passing at 94 years old Neola Johnson was a true country woman, still living at home where she raised a garden and her family. We were raised with her as an aunt in our lives. Then another friend died suddenly at home he was just in his 60's but had been fighting cancer lately.
Then as if that wasn't enough last night a young kinsman started rejecting his heart transplant which he got around Thanksgiving. We spent the night saying prayers and lighting candles and today the report is he's doing a little better so we will keep up the prayers. He's just 4 years old and barely got the transplant in time he had only 2% of his own heart functioning by the time he finally got a heart.
We are truly blessed in my home even with all the obstacles we deal with, life is good. We have good friends and family that we love and loves us back and the hope of a good future no matter what those dips in Congress do.
I hope all my friends have a wonderful holiday season and their futures are happy and bright too.

Here is wishing you peace, love and happiness during the Christmas season Connie x
Thank you.And I sure hope your days are filled with love and joy too.
Count my prayers and crossed fingers in too, sugar- I'm glad you got most of what you want, and I'll do what I can to get you that rich guy...lol
Maybe moving to Canada would help?
You know you're life is good when you have family to love (by blood or claim) friends who will listen when you need them to or tell you no when you don't need whatever.
I've been blessed to have some truly great friends from as far back as a kid in grade school oh the trouble we managed to find in our innocence. lol
Today dear VW39 came over and took pictures of my neice and nephew for Christmas. She's a true friend and a very patient person for she's willing to do whatever it takes to get a good picture of 8 year old Adam who never truly stops moving. But Rat can catch him and in some of the most beautiful and funny poses you'll ever see. She manages to capture the inner Adam that is too often hidden by his autism. A professional studio takes 8-12 pictres of different poses in a very strict controlled form that just won't work with an autistic kid. Bless her heart for being such a kind woman and a truly wonderful friend.
Afterwards she broke down and went with my sister and neice to the movie theater to see Breaking Dawn Part 2 and then out for Chinese food. She flat rocks! Thank you so much sugar.

AAAWWW you're both Very Sweet ladies and we have missed you very much.
Friends are good. Friends like Rat are a rarity. Lucky you are.
My sister read a friend's post from facebook to me earlier that led to a discussion among my brother, sister and I. The comment was about today's generation of kids with all their toys and electronics to keep them occupied all the time. It said when I was a kid we had one thing to keep us busy and it was called OUTSIDE.
After we finished laughing about it we realized it was true but in our cases we also had bicycles. My dad worked out of town through the week and my mom didn't drive so there was none of the dozens of trips a week kids today seem to need. If we couldn't get where we needed on our bike, we didn't need to get there.
We were not deprived in any way, had everything we needed even if not all we wanted. We had clean clothes to wear and new shoes every school year. We did not have dozens of pairs of shoes and a small closet held all our stuff easily. We had a good pair for school, an old pair for play and in my home a nice pair of leather shoes to wear to church.
Don't get me wrong I'm not angry or anything at today's kids it was just a different time then. The way we grew up, running around the neighborhoods on foot or bike, knowing the neighbor's names and waving at them when they saw us unafraid of serial killers or child abusers, we were safe to explore and learn. Not like today when you have to worry if your kid is 5 minutes late and be afraid for their lives. I really do hate that about our modern world. Kids miss out on so much that we got to enjoy.
Inside was where you had to go when Mom or Dad yelled for you to get your butt home or it'd be whipped. It was the place for homework and baths before bedtime. Outside was where all the fun was at and we wanted to stay there all the time. Those were really good times even if we didn't have all the toys of today.

I'm 25 and that's how my childhood was.
My son HATES coming inside. And is not really a fan of most toys.
Ditto- we knew when we had to come home for supper by hearing daddy holler out the back door...lol
Or when the street lamps came on- whichever came first.
Great journal :)
