So funny! I snorted my dinner at the screen!
HA!
Lol and me!
I have been traveling a lot lately and have not been able to spend any real quality time with my daughter. So last night I made it a point to get home a little early.
I asked her what she would like to do for dinner and to my surprise she asked if we could go to the new restaurant in town. (A new organic only place opened up by me. It really is good food but the variety is still a little small) I knew that the real motive was ice cream but hey – why not. Remembering that this place does not have any crayons or paper (my daughter is 5) I threw some in my purse and off we went.
After we had ordered, (she chose Mac and Cheese with broccoli all by herself!) we just chatted about the day and her friends at school. That is when she noticed a little boy at another table who was crying. He wasn't throwing a temper tantrum or anything - he just seemed frustrated and his mother looked a little harried too. My daughter looked at me and asked if she could go over and talk to the little guy. Usually I do not let her do this since I know that people usually do not want to be bothered during dinner but the mom looked like she could use a distraction.
My daughter walked over said hi and talked to the little boy for a minute or two. Then she came back and asked if she could have her crayons and the paper. I pulled them out and she walked over and gave them to the little boy! When I asked her why she did that she looked at me and said "He was sad and crayons always make me happy"
I do not think I could have ever - EVER been more proud. Dinner came and we ate. Right before they left the mother came over with the crayons and thanked me and my daughter for our kindness. I told her not to worry because I have days like she was having all the time. She smiled, said thank you again and they left. I commended my daughter for being so kind and generous. She beamed.
How did I get so lucky as to have such a great kid!!!
