Commission for . I swear this damn picture gave me so much trouble, and I used like 5% of the layers I normally do.
*sigh*
Such is the fate of me.
The picture is my own version of the artist herself. Not sure I like how the hands came out, and the boob looks a little too big, but all in all, it's a pretty damn good picture, I think. I'm quite happy with it.
So I figured it was time to enter another contest on DA, you know...to up my odds of getting a subscription so that I can have more options, more abilities to put my art out there. Unfortunately, they did not include my picture amongst the contestants, therefore I have no chance of winning...*le cry* Either way it goes, I had a lot of fun doing this picture.
Edit: Wonder of wonders, I have been included, so there is a chance for me to win! HORRAY! Root for me, okay? If I win, I could get new decorations for my room and a subscription to deviantart, which will help me get my art out more. WEWT!
To The Public:
HOLY CRAP! I just KICKED MY OWN @$$! Yes that's right people...I have entered yet another contest, this time with an even better picture than I've ever submitted before. *shivers at the thought of looking at old artwork.
BEFORE I STATE ANYTHING...IT'S BEING SUBMITTED TO GROUP 1!
I think that just by looking at this entry, with both of the pictures side by side, it becomes quite evident how well I have improved over the years. The original was done all the way back in 2006, and of course being the idiot I am, I failed to submit it to DA until like a week ago (just before I heard about this contest) so I hope it's alright. *nervous giggle* Essentially this picture was the first complete picture I have ever done using photoshop. That is, it is the first picture I drew by hand, scanned onto the computer, then colored digitally. Back then, I knew nothing about how to make feathers, do line art, make decent backgrounds or the Lasso tool! (which happens to now be my best friend.) Nor did I know that when you are coloring a hand drawn (meaning on paper with a pencil) picture, you're supposed to have it set at multiply.
I suppose it's safe to say that I didn't really know much of anything back then. Layers were just too confusing at that time, so I didn't bother. (Now I go Layer happy.) And working with the brightness and contrast? Pfft! Forget it. It also didn't really help that I didn't have internet so that I could learn about all of that cool stuff. All in all, for what I could do back then, I suppose it was a good image, and I vaguely remember being very proud of it, but now...now I look at it and I shake my head.
I knew you said that you wanted it to be brief, and forgive me, I tend to go description happy when I start talking about past art projects and what not, but I just couldn't help myself. Either way it goes, I really hope you like this submission, and I think that even with out all of the jibber jabber, it's easy to see that I have improved immensely over the past three years. After hundreds of various styles, pictures, and test pictures drawn, I have finally gotten to this point. Thank you for opening up this contest. It was a pleasure to do.
