The Vampire Shrink (Kismet Knight, Vampire Psychologist series) by Lynda Hilbur
Description:
Kismet is a psychologist who, after having a patient talk to her about wanting to become a vampire, decides that this would be a great thesis for a new book. So, she takes out an ad stating that she is a vampire psychologist thinking she would get vampire wannabes. Little did she know that she was stepping into a world filled with paranormal beings, murder, and a drop dead gorgeous, 800-year-old vampire named Devereux. After being attacked in her own office by a vampire, Devereux, being the Master Vampire of the city, wants to help Kismet any way he can.
Not only does she get a couple of angry bloodsuckers after her, she is also involved in a murder investigation when one of her clients shows up almost drained of blood. That's when we get introduced to the very handsome FBI profiler, Alan Stevens, who warns her that vampires are indeed real. Throughout the story, Kismet's feelings grow not only for Alan but for the gorgeous vampire, Devereux. But will they be able to find out who is draining their victims dry before Kismet becomes the next one?

The Awakening (Darkest Powers, Book 2) by Kelley Armstrong
Description:
Chloe’s a teenager who likes Simon, but maybe likes Derek, and definitely hates Tori, who crushes on Simon, who kind of cares for Chloe. Sounds pretty typical. Except that Chloe’s a necromancer, Derek’s a werewolf, and Simon and Tori are sorcerers. Following The Summoning (2008), this book in the Darkest Powers series has the teens on the run from a shady organization whose murky involvement with their manifesting powers is unclear, but definitely not for their betterment. There’s nothing terribly original here, but Armstrong has some fun toying with supernatural teen thriller conventions, and the taut pacing should please fans of the exploding genre.

Rusty Nail (A Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels mystery) by J. A. Konrath
Description:
Konrath's third outing to feature Chicago police lieutenant Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels, like its predecessors, Whiskey Sour and Bloody Mary, offers violent thrills peppered with hilarious one-liners. Jack's receipt of an anonymous snuff video that looks like the work of a serial killer called the Gingerbread Man, who was recently brought to justice, marks the start of a cat-and-mouse game with the killer, who plucks victims from the periphery of Jack's world—both professional and private. When Jack shakes the Gingerbread Man's twisted family tree, she unearths an unspeakable history of depravity and awakens sleeping dogs better left alone. A wedding in the woods turns sinister after a poison-laced champagne toast renders everyone in the wedding party unconscious, and Jack must race to save her friends from the surprise demon spawn that has outwitted her...

White Witch, Black Curse (The Hollows, Book 7) by Kim Harrison
Description:
Rachel's reputation is in tatters—to save humanity, she used powers that are considered evil—and she's still devastated by the mysterious death of her boyfriend six months earlier. Her attempts to solve his murder bleed into a case involving an emotion-sucking banshee, and soon Rachel has to bring in her PI partners—Ivy, a bisexual vampire, and Jenks, a pixie in existential crisis—along with empathic psychiatrist Ford and the banshee victim's father, Federal Inderland Bureau captain Edden. Harrison's unique vampire mythology unduly complicates world-building, and newcomers will be desperate for a glossary, but the nearly nonstop action nicely plays off the poignancy of Rachel's difficult life.
(After the ghost let Rachel know what letters were in his name Jenks said:
"Pie," Jenks said snidely. "Did you kill a baker we don't know about, Rachel?"
LOLOLOL That was too funny... I can't stop laughing... Nothing like hearing a 4" tall pixie say that... LOL Jenks is the most awesome character ever)
