The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

Looie, is a cat, or was a cat. Now he's back in the spiritual realm. His name is spelled a little different because it was emblazoned on his new cardboard home when he arrived, by a 7 year old. Looie was the coolest little fella, and he was supposed to be Holly's cat, but she was unable to take him back to Daddy's house when she was done with the summer with me. So he became my cat. He got hit by a car when he was one, and required surgery on one of his back legs...and he and I became much closer during his recuperation, what with the cone around his head and all.



Looie lived with me in six different locations in his ten year life. The last one was alongside of the Quilcene river (you can see his photo on the river in my profile) in Washington State. It was pretty wild down there, with coyotes, cougars, bears, raccoons, etc. But Looie was a warrior and he wouldn't hear of being kept in the house. So one day Looie just didn't come back.



I was devastated. He had come meowing up to my car as I left that last morning, so I stopped and opened the door to pet him and say goodbye. I'm glad I did, because that was the last time I saw the little guy. He wasn't around when I came home from work, and that wasn't like him, since he was usually ready for some dinner about then.



I searched and searched for him. I called a pet psychic, and after giving her my credit card number, she told me he was still alive, but just lost. She thought he'd hopped in the back of a large truck and was transported somewhere else, and someone took him home with them. It was really involved, they had a baby that scared him, so he hung out in the closet a lot. They wouldn't let him out apparently. She told me what their house looked like, so I searched everywhere in the county for a house like that.



After about a month of paying her over and over for more information, I had to get a friggin' grip and deal with Looie's death. He wasn't too fast, as cats go, since he still had a pretty good limp. So, he likely got eaten by a coyote.



Then the psychic said "BUT WAIT!" Then she told me about a "soul swap" deal that might be able to happen if I got a kitten. Okay, I'll bite. I would have done just about anything to get Looie back. So I was telling my sister about this far-fetched deal, and she's going "uh-huh." And she tells me about someone whose got some kittens to give away.



Looie, being the man in my life, wouldn't want to swap with a female kitten, so I got the one they called "Wolf." Wolfie was a nice cat, as cats go, he used the box, he scratched the scratching pole, he slept with me. So, I waited and waited to see if he would take on any of Looie's habits - like snuzzling in my ear, sharing my food, sleeping nose to nose with me on the pillow on the passenger side of the bed. And he never did.



I emailed the psychic (getting a little smarter now), and she said it could take a few weeks or a few months. "Uh-huh", I said. I waited again for awhile before I contacted her again. This time she was likely really tired of me, and she said "Wolfie had previously agreed to the swap, but now he loves you and he changed his mind." Hmmmm, I said. But by that time Wolfie was growing on me too, and he was a pretty cool cat. In fact, he fetched toys that I'd throw, and he wagged his tail like a dog all the time. He still does, and he's six years old now.



Looie is gone, and maybe someday we'll meet again, either in a new kitten, or else in the great beyond (beyond here anyway).
