I myself am not religious at all, a convinced believer in the arbitrariness of the universe, evolution is created by mother nature. All vertebrate creatures on the planet(s), included us, are originally developed from fish, yes we are descended from a fish if you think back to the very beginning of life. Fish became amphibians, reptiles, birds descended from dinosaurs and mammals from others. At some point the human came.
If your god had done that, what incredible patience he would have had considering how slowly things are progressing. Or does he do it on the computer with time lapse of a creator, is this world just a strategy game in a larger world of a gamer who has nothing else to do in his life? There is a belgian film called 'The brand new testament', it's portrayed the way I would imagine it - great film!
But yes, there are also things in this cosmos for which there is still no explanation, of which I am even convinced and where there are many stories that prove it: Reincarnation is something of which I am firmly convinced, so the soul also exists. You move on after death. Some people I know, including myself, have experienced something after the death of a relative, something inexplicable when someone visits you for the very last time. But even then, I'm sure that if research would have been progressed this far, everything would be scientifically proven.
