Tick
Tick
Tick
Tick
I watched the second hand on my clock today waiting for you.
A question hanging unanswered and ignored in the air, air which seems more stifling by the moment.
Tick
Tick
Tick
Tick
I watch you closely, you notice me but don't see me.
I hang here slowly twisting, my heart which once pumped hard and fast, now slow and sluggish.
Emotions which blazed like the noonday sun, enveloped in fog.
Tick
Tick
Tick
Tick
You looked me in the eye, and at that exact second I realised the eyes I looked into were a strangers.
My breath caught in my throat, my heart didn't stop it hammered hard beneath my breast.
No more ticking as I will not waste one more precious second holding on to what I destroyed.
