Well it's upon us again. I haven't written much about my Halloween plans this year in part because I've been to busy planning and preparing! I decorated on September 30th and have just been enjoying a spectacular fall here in New England. It's been amazing to see all the reds, oranges, and yellows this year compared to the previous year's dull browns. In addition, I've been out buying a few new decorations here and there and of course watched the Nightmare Before Christmas one weekend.
But things started to kick into high gear last Friday when I went to see a production of Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was a low-rent community affair but the actors/singers did a great job and the audience was in fine form.
Tonight I'll be going to hear a lecture on the Psychology of Vampires that should be interesting. The guy is from Ireland so at least the accent will be fun if nothing else!
This Friday, I head down to NYC with a friend for the "Triton Halloween Massacre" in which bands like Assemblage 23 and Imperative Reaction will be playing. I've just about got my entire Halloween costume ready so I'll be taking it for a test drive at that.
The very next night is the only Halloween house party I'll be going to but it should be fun. And then I get a slight break until Wednesday, when I'll be going up to Northampton with a friend for a club event that will be great because a) we haven't been to Haven in ages and it's always a great time AND b) it's THE night before Halloween so it's sure to be epic!
And then of course it's Halloween and I'll be going down to the city for the Greenwich Village Parade again. Can. Not. WAIT!
So yes, I'm gonna be busy but it IS the High Holy Days. Would anyone expect any different from me?!
Hope you guys all have something excellent planned - even if it's something quiet and small. You cannot let this slide by!
Oh and yes, of course I'll be posting pics!
Happy October everyone! I finished decorating yesterday and to be honest, it looks like Halloween puked all over my apartment. Lights, decorations, banners, and streamers. Yep - I go a little crazy. But I wait from about May until September for this month. I turn into a little kid all over again and love every second of it.
In other news, as some of you know, I was getting pretty stressed out about what I was going to do for a costume this year. A quick perusal of my portfolio will show you that I don't do the bacon and eggs Wal-mart costume. And usually, by last spring/early summer, I start to get an idea of what I want to do. This year, right up until just a couple weeks ago, I had no clue.
Well, I finally settled on it. For those of you who recall, I have been using this anime character for my stamp. I finally decided to go ahead and do that this year. It's funny in that for me it's a 'bad ass character' but not one that everyone will instantly say "Oh, you're so and so...." I guess it's my year to just sorta take it easy. As it is, this will be largely what I dress like when I go out but with some extra touches and a prop (namely, the katana). Don't worry - I'll post pics.
For those wondering, here are a couple pics and I'll include a clip from the anime itself as well. His name is Shiki.
