Self Medicating

12:14 Jan 10 2012
Times Read: 631

I stayed home from work Sunday night because I was ill...*chortles*...but...I felt strong enough to dick around on my computer and finish up some graphic work...no really...I was sick...*chortles*.

As I sat suffering terribly I decided the thing to do was self medicate...so...I went and procured for myself a large bowl of ice cream and began the path back to health. Spoon full after spoon full of delicious medicine...~MMMmmMMMMM~...I was definitely feeling much better! But then I got to thinking...

...now...if I put a steak in my freezer...it's going to freeze solid...this is indisputable. If I put an ice cube tray filled with water into the freezer...it is also going to freeze solid and again this is indisputable. A bag of broccoli...a Pepsi...a severed hand and/or finger...a potato...a walnut...damn near anything one can think of...if put into a freezer...is going to freeze solid.

So...*ponders*...why...WHY...is this ice cream not frozen solid and therefor uneatable? Why?! What is put into ice cream that renders it impervious to freezing temperatures? The only thing I can think of that doesn't freeze is Anti Freeze...surely Anti Freeze can't be in this ice cream...can it? Does this mean I could put ice cream into my car's radiator? What the hell is in this ice cream?!

~I carefully set the bowl on the desk and slowly back away~

o.o Do you really want to know why it's not inedible? And not causing cascading organ failure from anti-freeze?

The cream, sugar, etc. (NOT anti-freeze) are basically whipped as they freeze, and little bitty pockets of air are there, making it fluffy. Your spoon digs into the nummy (NOT anti-freeze), and the little eensy-weensy pockets of air make the nummy very scoopable, not very dense, and immediately nom-able. :) (Without, and let me be very clear here, anti-freeze.)

So...you are saying...if one whips pockets of air into a substance...it will not freeze? Is someone paying you to say this? *raises an eyebrow*

I volunteer to whip you while you freeze...for science, you know...and then determine whether you are edible.

That is a very gracious offer...I will have to give it consideration!
