Chapter 3



After a few weeks of being in Huntington Beach, Bast and Jayden were lying in bed together as Jayden stroked the side of Bast’s face and smiled softly at her kissing her lips lightly, outside and in most of America a wild storm was raging with thunder booming and lightening arced across the sky illuminating it.



As rain pattered against the window Jayden slid slowly out of bed and looked out of it, his skin slightly tanned now from going surfing even though Bast said it probably wasn’t a good idea to draw such attention to himself but he was going crazy just staying inside all day. Bast came up behind him and traced her nails across his chest as she kissed his neck softly.



Meanwhile, one single bolt of lightening cracked down towards the beach, and exploded outwards as though a portal was opening, a shadowed figure stepped out of the portal, their curly brown hair covering their eyes as she sighed softly muttering to herself “What the hell have I gotten myself into now?” her accent was English, and slightly northern, she walked away from the beach heading towards the apartment that Bast and Jayden were staying in.



Bast’s head whipped around as she heard the sound of approaching footsteps, she growled softly and pulled away from Jayden putting on a red robe heading for the front door of the apartment as two loud knocks came at it, Bast opened the door slowly as she saw the figure of a drenched young woman. Bast relaxed and realised that this must be the one that Horus had sent but said in a soft voice “Who are you?” the young girl looked up at Bast with a hand on her hip as she said with slight attitude “Well I’m the one that Horus decided to send to come and aid you and the Boy wonder” the girl pushed her way past Bast and took off her sodden coat.



Natalie looked up at Bast saying “So come on then….where is he?” just at that moment Jayden walked into the room in a pair of black boxers and a t-shirt as he looked from Bast to Natalie “So…..what’s going on?” Bast smiled at Jayden before replying “This is a Prophetess that Horus has sent to help look after you and keep you safe” Jayden let out a soft snort “Oh great….someone else to baby sit me” Natalie stood up and walked towards Jayden poking a finger into his chest “Now you listen here Mister….I’m not happy about this anymore then you are…I’d rather be back home alright at least that way I wouldn’t have to listen to whiny little boys” she tossed her hair from her face setting her brown eyes onto him.



Jayden chuckled softly and grabbed her a towel handing it to her before saying “Well if your gonna stay here we might as well find you a room, and you should grab a shower and get yourself warm you look frozen” Natalie scowled at him and then let out a soft sigh nodding her head replying in a softer voice “Yeah, that would be nice….and damn I’m tired, this whole teleporting thing sucks for jetlag” Jayden took her hand and lead her through to a spare bedroom as he showed her where the bathroom was before heading back into his own room and collapsed onto his bed yawning softly.



Natalie stripped to her underwear as she made her way into the bathroom sliding off her bra and her panties she turned on the water of the shower letting it get warm before she stepped slowly into it letting the hot water rush over her as she sighed happily grabbing some shower gel and washing it into her body getting clean as she stepped out of the shower grabbing a towel and wrapping it around her walking to her new room and drying herself off.



She rifled through some drawers and found a large t-shirt and slid it on and pulled on a pair of panties, she looked at herself in the mirror running a hand through her still damp hair as she sat down on the bed tucking her legs underneath her muttering to herself “So this is where it begins” she pulled back the blankets and slid into the bed closing her eyes and drifting off into a deep sleep.



Meanwhile, being buffeted by the wind, Ari chuckled softly as she stood on top of a building looking down at all the people being rocked by the strong gale, her hair flew back behind her as she leapt down her black leather coat billowing out behind her as she landed in a puddle a loud splash being disguised by the wind. Her black tank top clung close to her body showing off her curves as her ripped jeans let in the cold, she never really felt the cold anymore, she knew her Master would keep her warm, she was to instil chaos into the mortals, she chuckled as she ran at a young woman and pinned her to the ground putting a finger to her forehead muttering something in Ancient Egyptian as the woman’s eyes dulled nodding slowly.



Ari stood up slowly, as a smoking cloud formed in front of her making her kneel as a snake headed minion of Set’s appeared and said in a soft hissing voice “You are doing well, our Master is most pleased with your work….you should start to make your move on the boy, our Master wants more progress” Ari growled softly wanting to attack the snake thing but held her temper as she replied “Yeah sure, I’ll start working my way into his life don’t worry. Our Master will be happy with my progress” the snake creature nodded it’s head and flicked it’s tongue out as it disappeared.



Ari let out a disgruntled snort as she made her way back to her apartment as she slid off her coat and threw it over a chair opening the fridge and pouring herself a drink of orange juice, she gulped it down heading to her laptop and typing in Jayden’s name and looking through the information it brought up. She finished her drink off and then headed to her bedroom, she saw the blood spatters still on her wall from where she had killed her best friend, she had gotten rid of the body by throwing it into a river, she felt no remorse for doing it, she didn’t really feel much of anything anymore.



She slid out of her clothes as she got into her bed closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep, her dreams were a void less pit of blackness, she never dreamed anymore and if she did, all she heard were her own screams of her real self before she had been taken over by the Chaos that now resided deep in her very soul.



As the storm passed, the sun seemed to blaze in the sky as morning came, Jayden rolled over onto his side and opened an eye slowly as he groaned softly looking at the alarm clock which showed 8:30am his muscles seemed to ache as he slid his legs out of bed and sat upright rubbing the sleep from his eyes.



He walked towards the kitchen and slid some toast into the toaster…before realising something wasn’t quite right he looked around and saw that the house seemed to be without any walls, he sighed softly and looked up to see a blood red sky overhead, he rubbed at his arms feeling them prickle from the heat. The wind howled furiously dust and sand entering the apartment, or whatever it was he was in now Jayden muttered softly to himself “Why is this happening to me for God’s sake?” as though in answer to his question the wind picked him up and spun him around violently making him want to vomit as he was thrown through the air to land in sand which he spat out of his mouth.

He stood up slowly and growled softly wanting to know what exactly was going on as a shimmering shape appeared in front of him, what looked like a young woman, but who he instantly recognised as Sekhmet she smiled softly and walked towards him her features shifting from human to that of a lioness she let out a soft chuckle as she said in a slightly strange ethereal voice “Well now young Jayden, we meet at last, I have heard much about you…you seem to be valuable to many different people for many different reasons” she chuckled softly and stroked the side of his face and kissed his forehead softly as she clicked her fingers and everything went black.



As his eyes flew open he saw Natalie and Bast standing over him as he realised he was sweating, Jayden waved them both away as he sat up in bed and sighed softly as he said gently “I’m fine…seems like I met another goddess…..I met Sekhmet I have no idea quite what she wanted and she said I was valuable to many people for many different reasons, do you know what she was talking about Bast?” Bast shook her head as she shot a look at Natalie as though warning her to be silent.



Natalie rolled her eyes as she sat down beside Jayden and rested a hand on his knee as she said “We both don’t know what Sekhmet meant, we’ll just have to make sure that whatever happens we are well prepared for it” Jayden nodded as he stood up saying “I’m gonna go and grab a shower, I need to wash all this sweat off of me” he moved past the two girls heading into the bathroom and running the shower. Natalie looked at Bast saying angrily “We’re gonna have to tell him bloody sometime you know, you cant keep it hidden from him forever” Bast snarled her human visage dropping for a moment to reveal her cat form as she hissed replying “If we tell him then it ruins the whole thing, he will know when he needs to know and not before” with that she spun on her heels and stormed out of the room angrily as Natalie sighed and went to her room.



Jayden stood in the shower letting the water run over him until it got cold, he shivered slightly not knowing how much more of these hallucinations he could take, he shook his head and turned off the shower letting the water drip slowly down his body, his breath was heavy as several tears rolled down his cheeks before he sniffed them away and got out of the shower wrapping his towel around him heading for his bedroom so he could get dressed.



After getting dressed he walked through into the living room where he saw Bast and Natalie in a furious conversation, he caught glimpses of it, words such as Pharaoh, reincarnation, he wondered what they were both talking about as he walked towards them Bast glared out of the window as Natalie turned towards him smiling as she said “Hey there Jayden, how are you feeling now?” Jayden nodded his head and smiled at her replying “Yeah, I’m better now thank you Natalie” she smiled at him before replying “Please call me Natty its what all my friends call me” Jayden nodded before sinking down onto the couch and putting on the television.



Bast continued looking out of the window before grabbing her coat saying “I’m going for a walk….I need to get some fresh air” Jayden looked at her quizzically as she opened the front door and left the apartment, Jayden turned to Natty and said softly “What’s wrong with Bast Natty?” Natty sighed softly replying “Well….I said I wouldn’t tell you this….but you are the reincarnation of a Pharaoh, and there has been talk that you could be the one that brings about either the peace or the destruction of the Gods and Goddesses” Jayden looked at her warily before replying “So…..I’m the reincarnation of a Pharaoh….that’s why I have the Eye of Horus on my arm” Natty nodded her head slowly as Jayden rubbed at the corners of his eyes.



As Bast walked along the beach, she muttered softly to herself as she sat down on the beach watching the waves crash onto the beach, she saw a young man surfing she chuckled wishing she could go back to how it all was before, she knew that when Jayden was alive all those centuries ago she was his protector then…and she would be his protector now even if it meant living through the pain that she suffered then.



Bast stood up slowly and stretched knowing that soon an Agent of Chaos may well be wandering the streets looking for Jayden, Set would waste no time in ending Jayden’s life so that he could bring about the end of days, she walked back towards the apartment feeling much better.



Jayden was sitting on the couch as Bast entered, his eyes travelled up towards her as he said “So….I’ve been reincarnated huh…so I’m guessing my parents….weren’t my parents” Bast scowled at Natty who said softly “He deserved to know…..we can’t keep hiding things from him….we need to start being honest with him….I am the Prophetess after all that’s what I am here to do….to bring truth into the world” Bast growled and lunged at Natty but Jayden dived in from of her as Bast drew deep claw marks into his face making him stagger back holding his face wincing.

Natty growled softly, her hair billowing out behind her as her eyes flashed a dangerous shade as she leapt at Bast knocking her onto the floor and striking her across the face, Bast let out a loud yelp of pain, Natty then head butted Bast sending her flying along the floor and into a bookshelf where several books fell on her.



Natty then walked towards Bast and picked her up by the collar as she growled softly “If you ever lay another finger on Jayden again….I promise you I will inform Horus and Isis and then your pathetic little life wont ever be worth living” Bast hissed softly and turned her eyes away from Natty as she scrambled to her feet breathing heavily, Natty walked towards Jayden leading him into the bathroom so that she could tend to his wounds.
