I was reading something about the Chaldeon method of the planetary hours, and how the seven celestial bodies govern and rule the seven days of the week. The planetary hour can varie depending on the time of the year, because the length of day is divided into 12 parts and the night is divided into 12 parts. This system was used well before the invention of clocks, and in our society when the hand goes past midnight that is a new day, and we always use 60 minutes to a hour no matter what time of year. They would start a new day from when the sun rises, and until it rises again the next day, and the first planetary hour would govern that day, for example if saturn was the first plantary hour of the day, it would rule over saturday. The Babalonians used the chaldeon method, and the minutes of the planetary hours constantly varies all the time, depending on the length of day and night, and they never stick to 60 minutes accept on the equinox.



For example if it was 14 hours of daylight, you would divide 14 over 12, that would make a day planetary hour occur every 70 minutes until sunset. Then the first celestial body would become the first plantary hour of night, which would be 10 hours night. 10 divide over 12 would give 50 minutes to each planetary hour of the night until sunrise, and then start of a new day. There is also a order of sequence, so saturday would start from Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon then back to Saturn and so on. Sunday would start from Sun, and Monday would start from the Moon.



I was wandering if this system is still being used to this present day. If so is it an accurate method to use? Can it be used for Magick ceremonies or rituals?



I was just wandering, because if we used this system, would it not muddle up our perception of time with dates and so on. In our society we always use 60 minutes to every hour of day and night. But if the minutes of the planetary hours differ depending on the time of the year, it does not seem accurate, because the minutes of the hour is being altered depending on length of day and night.

The Egyptians beleived that the human body is vessel that contains the soul within, so that means I am the human embodiment of a spirit. The spirit is seperated from the physical body from death, and the constellations is like a spiritual map that guides the spirit to the afterlife deep in the cosmos. We create magick within our conscious minds, because we use it by our intuition and imagination, we create it within ourselves. We can also create that special place within ourselves.
