Crawling in darkness
searching for light,
covered in mud
surrounded by night.
The weight becomes heavy
the boulders piled high,
my bones tremble
here I lay
waiting only to die.
Thinking, hoping, fading,
the world may have won
in this water I'm barely wading.
When will it ever be done?
A heckle, a cackle, a chuckle,
I hear you......
I smile to myself
where they cannot see,
Not today
I will not buckle.
Pushing up with
all my might,
boulders shatter to pieces
right in front
of their eyes.
A snarl, a growl, HATRED!
They'll not rest
until I'm dead.
Some days I'm dying inside,
but I'll never let them see,
a smile is all I give
before I spit in their face.
Today I break my shackles
Today I am free.
Drop the baggage
drop the pain
break the chains of tyranny!
One more time
I watch them walk away,
"we'll be back
to torment you"
I faintly heard them say
come back....
this time I'll be ready.
Darkness blankets the sky.
Footsteps come closer
I grab my chains tighter,
closer, closer....
One sharp swing
wrap them in their own misery.
With one glance back,
"remember I've always
been a fighter"
