It never does cease to amaze me how far I have come in parenting. No this is not me blowing my own trumpet here, but I am proud to a degree. My eldest has had to go through a lot having a younger brother who is disabled. Growing up in house that can feel to him being neglected and left alone and yes at times I had to let it be so as in some cases I didn’t have an option but to do just that when his brother was taking up so much of my time. So when he notices this and wants my attention what child doesn’t play up? He is slowly starting realise his actions have consequences and that his behaviour at times is not acceptable, he is also at the stage with hormones racing around his body so his attitude alone with emotions will have an effect. As he growing into a young teen he has achieved so much and come so far that I am proud of him for what he has done. I was at my neighbour’s house today and they had a guest who my son has met a couple of times through the neighbours teenage son. He kept coming away with comments about my son and his attitude and how he is in his own words a little shit. EXCUSE ME? Your sat at someone else’s home not yours expressing an opinion. I was brought up not to voice those sort of things in someone else’s home. My neighbour’s know what I go through and the day to day issues that may occur with having a disabled child in the house and you’re telling me my son is a little shit! This man and I use the term very loosely chooses to base his skills on how I handle my children on what exactly?????? He does not have kids he criticizes and complains about my son being the street that he does not live in. That my son is annoying. He is a teen who is in the street that he lives in. He then proceeded to tell me that he felt like putting his car in reverse and backing it up on my son. Are you kidding me? So I sat and didn’t utter a single word. I kept my mouth shut after all I’m sat in my neighbour’s house. Had it been outside or even in my own home I might have mustered up the strength to ask him to keep his obnoxious mouth shut but nope politeness came into play so I finished off the rest of my tea blocking out his dribble and shit that was verbally falling out as quick as he could talk. It is only due to the fact that for the past 13 years I have learnt as a parent you should not hit out and that the actions and how you behave is what you teach your own child to do. If a child said that to me I would smile and ignore them walking away. I smiled at the neighbour’s got up and walked out. But the temptation to let down all four tyres on his car is calling to me.
