You are not in a billion years going to guess what happened to me yesterday, give up? My dream job called me and asked if I was interested in the position? Right now I have finished the two week training program at Liberty Mutual, and pretty darn ready to go on the floor to be on the phones full time. Yay, trust me the classes were tough to be gentle.
Suze from a wedding magazine in scottsdale az asked if I had taken the other job, yes two weeks ago. My time at LM is pretty much a sure thing. F/T with all the benefits you could imagine for the best pay I had ever received. Sounds great, so what's the down side to this?
It takes me an hour and half to get there one way by bus and there giant office is in the seedier part of town in phoenix. For two weeks I've waited for the bus and all that time I was nervous. Watching the sun go down with strange guys sitting next to you hitting on me. Oh yeah, great. By the time I get home it's 9pm and I'm usually in bed at 11 exhausted.
This new job, no it's not the sure thing. There are only 5 people about to work with. You have to mesh very well to be able to work together. But the good part is is that its in my town, my side of this giant valley. But with what benefits?
I asked her with Dan in the room with me "Do you have medical?" she answers
"We can set you up in Oct when you go in f/t and I can pay for 2/3rds of it, while you pay for 1/3 how does that sound?"
"Sounds great, Will I be starting f/t?"
"You'll be starting p/t until I move my assistant around on the schedule. The schedule was going to be Oct 2? but I can move it up to Oct 1st for you."
"And I understand the salary is $***? I'm earning $*** right now."
"I can meet you at $*** plus I give raises to everyone every 3 mths, ok?"
"Definately. Can you give me over the weekend to make my decision? You have my word I will call you before noon on Monday."
"Sounds fine. Definately. Talk to you then."
After I hung up the phone I nearly burst at the seems from this. Do you leave the sure thing for a maybe? I lose a dollar an hour and pushed down to p/t until Oct 1. Dan sat next to me, reassured me we are in a good place right now. He weighed all the pros and asked me a sobering question; "So what's the problem?"
I am for the first time going to work in the chosen field I fell in love with. I won't be tethered to the wall, thank goodness. Honestly I know I'm not the type to sit down in one chair and be on the phone all day.
9am to 5pm, SWEET! M - F DOUBLE SWEET! Oh darn, so I'll guess I'll take it. tehehehehehe
