I usually make a list of things to do when I get motivated, so here we are.
From now until, let's do what...Samhain, the Pagan New Years...
*Save money for emergency fund
*Open up a 401K again
Open a money market, or other high yield account
*Pay off bills
*Money for plane ticket to get Bob home from summer vacation
*save up for Oct break plane ticket, maybe even for me and Dans romantic get away
*Money for Nocturnes deposit for hotel, yes it's a surprise
*New Mattress, my shoulders are killing me
*Divorce, divorce, divorce
*Health coverage for Bob and I
*A big one, a car. (gulp) I'm hoping for a scooter though. (wink)
*Make some sort of committment to a gym, for health reasons.
*Try try try to find a way to go to college with an incertain schedule. Although I admit, these two last ones can have a deadline by maybe December.
So as I'm writing this, today is my tenth year wedding anniversary. No, not yay. My insignifigant other gave me his word as a gentleman, on his grandfathers honour that we would be divorced before this date. *sigh. My only prayer is that his grandfather, whom was a good soul, knows of Shawns lack of action, laziness, and indifference to our situation.
My goal for all this is in 4 months, can it happen? ANYTHING is possible once it goes down on paper.
Dark Blessings
Well I did the interview for the wedding magazine. Now it's no longer in my hands, so I'm just going to keep digging around.
Onto the next!
Today is a special day today.
Well, I went over to my friend Karl and Nikki's house to do an SCA event. Got to wear my new garb I made up in 2 weeks time. Had a good time there.
Came home to recheck my messages and a woman from a wedding magazine in Scottsdale was responding to one of my few cold calls for looking for employment.
"I would've called about 3 or 4 weeks ago but I wasn't sure what my assistant was doing." she confesses.
OMG! 1/3 admin assistant work ( I was looking for that anyways) 1/3 sales (shaking hands and kissing babies, I do that for Nocturne already) 1/3 other. She says the "OTHER" part is meetings, deadlines, editing, and luncheons.
I'm not committed to this, cause I still have Liberty Mutual to start late July, so I don't "need" it, I have a job spoken for. But if I "WANT" it and if I'm good enough for it remains to be seen.
We had a great talk for about 15 minutes. She liked what I had to say enough to further elaborate on other things, and she offered to make a part II interview, a luncheon, this THURSDAY! HOLY SHIT???!!!! Are you serious? Is what I ask myself.
If it goes well then interview III will be a tour of the magazine editorial department, cool to just tour it. Wow. She asked if I was interested in furthering the wedding consultant gig? I told her that it does reflect back to the days I sewn wedding gowns, dealing with brides and that I did my own wedding. I'm more into the event planning part of it, but I will never say no to learning something, new or otherwise.
This reminds me of a great piece of advice a friend gave me long ago when I was homeless and working, "Don't look like you're homeless, don't look like you need the job, don't act like you need the money when you get a loan." Strange advice, but man it works here, don't act like you would drop dead to have this job, just be coooooool about it. *wink.
School? Yes right now with Liberty Mutual I won't have time to go to classes, which sucks bad. This job maybe? She said that it is normal hours, though I'm not asking for details on the first phone interview, I wouldn't dare.
Wouldn't it be so friggan cool to go to school for the degree that I'm working on at the same time as a job? Nuts huh?
I'm dreaming, I must be dreaming. You know what, even if I don't get it, I got a great chance and maybe I would get a cool tour.
We'll see. I pray to the Gods a lot right now. A chance, that's all I ask for is a chance.
