Fangs or claws?
I stop to pause.
To ponder this...
Night’s sweet kiss.
To drain my prey...
Or hunt the wolf way.
Of one mind...
But still one of a kind.
Do I walk alone...
Or find a home.
Will they want me?
Or reject me forcefully?
To just have love...
I ask to Heaven above.
Please guide my way...
In hopes I find it one day.
Immer schon waren sie da.
Ich wusste es, weil ich sie sah,
Wenn ich meine Augen schloss.
Sie schienen mir des Teufels Spross,
Wie sie mich betrachten,
Scheinbar mich verachten,
Nach meiner Seele trachten,
Tiefe Angst entfachten,
Um den Verstand mich brachten.
Doch bald ward mir klar
Sie sind keine Gefahr.
Sie waren ein Zeichen
Aus innersten Reichen.
Nun war es geschehen,
Ich musste verstehen;
Ich hatte gesehen
Aus was sie bestehen.
Als Wächter entsandt,
Zum Mentor ernannt,
Mit Wissen gesegnet,
Der Wahrheit begegnet,
Aus Träumen gemacht,
Die Sehnsucht entfacht,
Halten sie Wacht
Bei Tag und bei Nacht,
Beschützen mich,
Behüten mich.
Die Augen meiner Seele.
Translation:
Eyes
They always have been there.
I knew, 'cause I saw them,
when I closed my eyes.
They seemed the devil's scion,
How they watch me,
Seemingly despise me,
strive for my soul,
arouse deep fear,
drove me mad.
Soon I saw clear
They are no hazard.
They were a sign
from inmost realms.
It had happened,
I had to understand;
I had seen
what they comprise.
Sent as guardians,
Named as mentors,
Blessed with knowledge,
Encountered the truth,
Made of dreams,
Longing ignited,
They watch over me
By day and by night,
Guard me,
Protect me.
The eyes of my soul.
(Most of the metre has been lost during the translation. And it's not one of my better poems, because I had to force it into rhyming (in the original German version) for I wanted to use it for a school project.)
By Stefan Kaiser
I look down upon your pale white face
And hold my hand over my heart to keep it in place.
I know now that you are my true love,
Now that your spirit dances above.
For now we are separated by death
And even though I pray to draw my last breath,
I know it is not meant to be.
I must stay here and pray that you will wait for me.
How far we have together come,
Not even ballads of old sum.
Our hearts entwined, our souls one,
Our saga can never be done.
Though from me you drift
To places I cannot follow as swift,
Our love is eternal, surpassing death, even life.
When I die, I will take up your hand and become your wife.
Tragedy struck down your young life;
Twenty years now I have lived with my strife.
The young girl once you knew is a woman now
And has learned to go on somehow.
I remember the bond we shared
Our plans, our lives, our futures…we never cared.
Only for each other,
Whole one to another.
Even though a young child I carry on my hip,
It is the memory of you that causes my heart to trip.
I have become a wife, a mother
All this to someone other.
I pray that you may forgive me—
My life has led me astray, though I can never be truly free.
Will you still love me after my life here is done?
And what will become of my husband and son?
Are they doomed to dance above alone whilst I return to you?
These questions and fears I carry as I see the world, places you should have seen too.
And when my time comes, my life will have been filled
With wonders so great, even though my heart will flutter, my consciousness will be chilled.
How can I say I love you and
Yet take another man…alone I stand.
For yet I may find myself cursed
With neither him nor you, who was first.
If alone I be when I die, Lord may my afterlife be spent
In my youth, together with my love before he went.
And may my family become one,
My first love, husband, and son.

A dragoness, true and proud,
Scales gleaming, glinting colors of light
Upon the shaded scales hued of night;
A shadow dragoness, as dark as the shroud.
Darkness upon the midnight sky,
Hunting below, hunting above,
Searching this realm over for true love.
Knowing this still yet it is not time to fly.
A tear falls from her dark face,
Talons grip the cliff edge in dismay
If only the heart could sway
Then all the love could shine through her grace.
But here she is alone and sad
Without a friend or mate
And she knows the hour grows late
For who could ever love one such as her?
Alone she waits until the day
The day her heart turns to stone
And where she had before lay
Is but a sculpted cliff where all hope is flown.
One day perhaps she will wake
Until then, the hour is past
Past for her heart’s sake
But still she hopes this torture will not last.
But who could ever love one such as she?
Who would ever love one such as she?

"The other shape,
If shape it might be call'd, that shape had none,
Distinguishable in member, joint, or limb;
Or substance might be call'd that shadow seem'd;
For each seem'd either; black it stood as night,
Fierce as ten furies, terrible as Hell,
And shook a dreadful dart; what seem'd his head
The likeness of a kingly crown had on.
Satan was now at hand; and from his seat
The monster, moving onward, came as fast
With horrid strides; Hell trembled as he strode."
-- John Milton
COMMENTS
Demons, universally considered agents of both good and evil, have been looked upon as vital and/or negative forces and share key characteristics: all demon species are supernatural spirits of semi-divine status with limitless energy, excessively passionate natures, shape-shifting talents, and a preference for concealment, "indwelling" and darkness.
"Demons are everywhere, in every part of the world and in every moment of recorded history. They are as invisible as microbes. They inhabit every grain of sand and drop of water. They lurk at crossroads, crouch at the door, hide in trees, slip into bed, wait in caves, slide down chimneys, hover at wedding and childbirth, follow caravans, pretend to be friends, mates or grandmothers. They slip into your mind and become YOU." . . . from "A Field Guide to Demons, Fairies, Fallen Angels, and Other Subversive Spirits" by Carol K. Mack and Dinah Mack (ISBN -8050-6270-X)
Upon his mighty black stallion atop the hill
He proudly surveys the battle
His blade ever ready to draw blood
Armor black as ebony shines in the midday sun
The rage and noise of the war calls out to him
His fate is set he wishes Death
His beloved ripped from his arms by the man he once called brother
They could not see how fate planned their lives
Against her wishes she was married to a man she did not love
All in the name of land and power
Her heart belonged to the Dark Knight, for him she would die
She sits at her window awaiting his return
But that shall not happen
He charges into battle sword drawn
The enemy gets a lucky hit and he goes down
The pain starts and she knows this will be the day the child will be born
He lays bleeding and calls her name
She screams his name
For that moment in time they are one
Death and Birth
Winter and Spring
Dark and Light
She holds his child in her arms and whispers
“Your daddy would have loved you,”
A tear rolls down her cheek
He wipes it off whispering
“I love him as much as I love you, My Beloved,”
She turns her head to his touch
She smiled for she knows he will never leave her and their child
Love transcends time and space, life and death.
