I love her
I skinny dip with her
I have dinner with her
I travel with her
I love being in her
I walk with her
She is dark and mysterious
She can be so bright at times
She has twinkles in her eyes
She is sometimes cool
She is sometimes warm
She is there for me when I’m happy
She is there for me when I’m sad
She can become very wet at times
Sometimes she can even squirt
She has often drenched me
I love her in my mouth, on my tongue
She is there when I sleep
She is there when I wake sometimes
If not when I wake, I know she will always return to me
She knows all about me
She sees me when no one else does
She sees me when no one else can
She sees me when I’m being naughty and never judges
I love her
Who is she?
She is the Night…..
One day long long ago..It had been raining pretty bad over here and I wore these shoes that I like (you see where this is heading right?) and as I was walking down these stairs with no slip guard on them and they were really wet and it was dark and raining....YUP...I slid 4 steps down...not once hitting my butt...all on my right foot....somehow finally landing on the side of my right thigh....well not really landing...kinda hit it and then bounced up to my feet....it was dark and traffic was just beginning to reach my point...you know I had to play it off by looking at the bottom of my shoe like something was wrong.....I was grunting and holding in the cry of pain...I slowly limped to my car the entire while feeling a little light headed...don't know why since I didn't land on my head...must be because I had stopped breathing for awhile to control my response to the level of pain I was in...so then as I try to get into the car....my stomach kept cramping up...must be because my entire body tensed up as I was preparing myself for the impact of that final sudden stop as I was traveling down to that last step...in fact as I was slipping...I remember thinking to myself...this is embarrassing and is going to hurt and also don't land on your butt or your back...and I hope no one saw me...and I know someone saw me, but I hope they don't honk their horn...it wasn't even that long of a slip and of all that went through my head as gravity took over...so the next day I was a little soar as I figured with but a small bruise.
Value is defined as relative worth, merit, or importance. Has it ever struck you as odd how we come about placing value on something? Have you ever asked yourself why you place value in something? Was it due to the media, society, religion, personal preference etc.? Have you ever asked yourself why does someone else value something so much when you have set no value at all to it? Example, I set no value on autographs. I feel I can write my name just as well as anyone else and don't really care to stare at someone else's name written on something. Yet some people would pay thousands of dollars to get something with a famous person's name written on it even though they never even met that individual. Another example is brand labels. I don't care to wear some other person's name on my clothes or shoes or whatever, but some people would pay top dollar to own a product reflecting someone's name or logo. Yet another example is a hobby. I love collecting stuff that I know another person would not spend one brown penny to own. It reminds me of the saying that one man's junk is another man's treasure. As you go through 2011, ask yourself why have you placed value in something. What does that something do for you? Can you eat it or drink it, wear it, does it provides you nourishment, keep you warm when you are cold or is it of better quality etc.? Maybe ask yourself why have you placed value in a person. As humans we do find ourselves placing more value in some over others. Why? Do they make you smile more, laugh more etc.? We place value in something or someone because of something we get from it or them. Notice the less we get the less value we place...the more we get the more value we place. Lastly, let me connect this to my last deep thought posting of 2010. The more you value something or someone, the more you will find you invest the two most important things you have...TIME or MONEY or both. So ask yourself what will you value in 2011 and why?
I’ve had the opportunity to interact with many different people from all walks of life and as a race….the human race….it’s still amazing how different we all are or can become. Also, do you know there are still pockets of entire generations still separating themselves from other ethnic groups? Seriously! That last part stimulated my thoughts on culture.
Culture is defined as the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what should be regarded as what is RIGHT (acceptable) and what is WRONG (not acceptable). Also sometimes defined as GOOD and BAD (or Evil in religious terms).
We are all, for the most part, taught our culture or social norms from childhood by those who are responsible for us until we are able to be responsible for ourselves. They expose us to one or many different cultures as we mature. Until a person matures (or as some believe…until they free their mind) and began to think for themselves, they tend to take on the beliefs and behavior of those that raised them. Why? Because that’s all we they to do.
Think about it. What does any culture bestow upon us? It shapes our minds through education or training; it teaches us behaviors and beliefs which then contribute to our likes, dislikes, fears, preferences etc. Think of the way you speak, you dress, the way you wear your hair, the places you frequent, the food you eat and on and on….where did this all come from? You learned it from somewhere, someone, some group, some book, a t.v. show, a movie, a song, a music video etc.
We can also be a product of many different cultures such as a particular social culture, ethnic culture, age group culture, the street culture, the drug culture, the crime culture, the gang culture, a religious culture, a pagan culture, higher education culture, military culture etc. However, although we will relate to one culture more strongly than another, we are still products of each....to some degree.
Yes, some times a new culture can be created by someone or some group who choose not to conform to any present cultures or only accepts or tolerate certain parts from certain cultures. They have labeled these cultures as Occults or Separatists. As humans, we tend to label and group many things together to better cope and try to make living easier.
Culture is the sum total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings and transmitted from one generation to another.
Remember this, no matter how hard we try, children mature into adults having become in some way shape or form the product of the culture they were raised in. When the parents or care givers have the means to, they try to produce an adult reflecting a particular culture by raising the child in that culture within that community. However, many do not have the means to pick and choose. Although that won’t guarantee that the child will maintain that same culture as he/she matures into an adult. There are many cultures out there that are attractive and tempting. That’s how people change at some point. Rich may become poor. Poor become Rich. Loving become haters. Haters become loving. Religious become Non-believers. Non-believers become Religious. Law Abiders into Law Breakers and Law Breakers into Law Abiders.
So for the most part, when you look at your child now ask yourself are you exposing him/her to the type of culture you wish for your child. If your child is now an adult…ask yourself….what culture(s) now do they more relate to? Is it the one from their childhood or alternate one(s)? Also, how much or how little of yourself do you see in them?
1st week of the new year complete. Not a bad week. Every day, I spend a little time being still. Calm. Some call it praying others meditating. Whatever floats your boat. What entered into my realm of thought is how each of us are born into this world having made no choice of our own and then when we are taught self-awareness…we spend the rest of our life making choices daily to do the only thing we’ve known how to do since day one….LIVE! Each choice, good or bad, right or wrong, as defined by religion, society, culture etc., we may affect our own lives and may affect the lives of others as well. The one thing we all have is the power of CHOICE! Even to choose not to choose is your ‘choice’. Even if a gun was held to your head..you still have a CHOICE! So this year…think about the choices you’re making and take ownership for the results. After all, it was ‘YOUR’ CHOICE!
December 2010… Coming to an end...Facebooking with both family and friends... Will retire next year 2011... My oh me... 24 years serving in the air, on land and sea... Without Passion there is the kiss without the slip of the tongue
Without Passion there is the hug without the squeeze
Without Passion there is the smile without the flash of the teeth
Without Passion there is the love making without movement
Without Passion there is the plan without the execution
Without Passion there is the exercise without breaking a sweat
Without Passion there is the meal without flavor
Without Passion there are eyes without the twinkle
Without Passion there are the vows that mean nothing
Without Passion there are the feelings never acted upon
Without Passion there is life without a purpose
Without Passion a Friend never becomes a Lover
Without Passion a Lover never becomes a Spouse
Without Passion a Marriage is Boring…
I found that when someone was in my life for a REASON, it was usually to meet a need they had expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come for me to assist them through a difficulty, to provide them with guidance and support, to aid them physically, emotionally, or spiritually. I seem like a godsend, and I am. I was there for the reason they needed me to be. Then, without any wrong doing on MY part or at an inconvenient time, this person said or did something to bring the relationship to an end. None died. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up or out and forced me to take a stand. What I realized is that their need had been met, their desire fulfilled; my work is done. The prayer they sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.
Remember, when people come into your life for a SEASON, it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person/people (anyway); and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. The Scorpion and the Frog is a fable about a scorpion asking a frog to carry her across a river. The frog is afraid of being stung, but the scorpion argues that if she stung him, both the frog and the scorpion would sink and drown. With that reasoning, the frog agrees to carry the scorpion across the river, however, half way across the river the scorpion stings the frog, dooming them both. When the frog ask the scorpion why did she sting him and now they will both sink and drown, the scorpion apologizes and tells the frog that she is a scorpion and its in her nature. The fable is used to make the point that the behaviour of some creatures is not able to be controlled, no matter how they are treated and no matter what the consequences they will do what is in their nature.
