Honest criticism is hard to take, particularly from a relative, a friend, an aquaintance, or a stranger.
I spoke to one of my younger cousins this morning they live in San Diego, she is still not old enough to vote but was so excited with all that was going on.
She told me that in her class room they have pictures of all 43 American presidents up on the wall, I couldn’t help thinking that all 43 were white presidents, so will America make history?!!!!
The political history could also change significantly since 1964 ... so many landmarks.
75% turnout reported, that is just phenomenal.
They are saying that Virginia will be too close to call, that seems remarkable. Wouldn’t it be great if the State where slavery to America was born back in the 1600’s helped elect the first non white president.
Good Luck America

Also of course that Sarah Palin could be the first woman VP :-)
Obama though does not share the slavery history of many black Americans - his mother was white and his father is Kenyan. This was initially seen as a point against him in some black communities. *roll*
Whatever the outcome I haven't been this "up" for an election since the UK election in 97 - I wonder if there will be a Portillo moment lol
I have to say it ... can you honestly see us Brits lining up to vote for hours on end?!! Between the fish and chips and Coronation Street, they would be lucky to have any votes to add up. lol
I just heard South Carolina held it's promise to McCain .... damn, I need to get to bed, I can see me getting addicted to this election.
Democracy will be a definite winner.
So the past week went very well.
It's always been a busy time of year for me when you have two of you closest friends birthdays and my own all falling in just a few days of each other.
I also want to thank all those in my two covens and the rest of VR for all their good wishes. Thank you.
My birthday cake ... lol ...

Heh. So true.
Imagine how brilliant we could be if we were able to take honest criticism gracefully, and devote time to working on improving it.
Unfortunately, it seems that our pride gets in the road there! :)

I have always said that it's not the person being criticised who should learn how to take it; the person doing the criticism should learn how to give it :-)

Good communication relies on the receiver as well as the transmitter. I used to internalise everything which is not healthy. Now I try and view "criticism" as "comment". Even highly subjective and anagonistic comment can have truth in it. The trick is to analyse it correctly and act on it appropriately.

....and sometimes the trick can be to just ignore it!!
