Not Living the Dream

So, I’m miserable!

I’m in the middle of the worst MS flare of my life! My left side is completely numb, I have no feeling and the pain is outrageous. I’ve fallen and hurt myself so far this morning.

The Vicodin has not work for pain management.

I’m stuck btw a rock & a hard place. Can’t get steroids until I get an MRI. The soonest MRI is 12/9. According to the doctor I spoke to, they are going to try to get me in sooner, bc how bad things are getting.

I’m at a lost. I almost drove myself to the ER, but what could they do for me? If they load me w/steroids, then we’ll never know if a lesion is enhanced atm. Which is external important.

I’m stuck in between a rock & a hard place.

This sucks!

So, having MS sucks - anyone with it will say that.

So I've been in a flare for a while now. It has been getting worse!

I finally reached out to my doctor and threw myself at her mercy. I was starting to loose my balance when I was standing firmly in place and my hips OMG my hips, the pain was out of this world.

So I saw her on Tuesday morning, and she signed me up for steroids.

Steroids don't agree with me, but they work! I became let's fight everyone in he world by the third day! I asked everyone and anyone if they needed me to beat up someone. I was read to rumble. I was even looking for try outs for WWE!

In the end, I didn't get to show off my beat them up skills, but I did get some relief. That's what really matters. My hips feel a heck of a lot better, I am still have coordination problems, but not as bad, and the night sweets are almost all done. Which is so nice!

I swear though, MS is something I would not wish on my worse enemy. It's no fun and it can just act up at the snap of a finger and destroy you.

Oh Boy!

You know it’s bad when you need to read the encouragement to a friend to pump you up, to help you stay strong, in your own battles.

I had to return some stuff & off I went to the store. First was stuck standing in a line for ten minutes, left leg got angry. Then as I was cutting through shoes & jewelry- I got distracted. The store was on sale! Tilt tilt!

I looked for boots in my size, almost fell on my ass, decided not to try them.

Proceed on mission to be blinded by sterling silver earrings at 75% off! Had to look & buy 2 pair! Now I’m dragging my left leg.

Got to guys - looking for my brother- he’s lifting weights now - huge ass muscles - budging out of shirts - kinda funny. He likes black. Found 4 shirts - needed price checks - by the time I got to car, I slide into closed door. Sweet right?

Spiffed myself up, opened door, got 1/2 my body in, then my left leg refused to move! Had to pull it by my boot and carry it into car! Sweet, I know.

All I can say, thank god for narcotics & for my appointment on Monday- I’m getting a X-ray!

Boy this is frustrating.

Peace out my friends

Message for Lilliancat

Some times life is difficult. It throws us curve balls that are just unfair and unnecessary. What matters is how we handle these curve balls and how we run with them. Knowing that we must fight and keep our head held high, and spit in the face of adversaries, we fight till our knuckles are white as a ghost and we are sweating throw our clothes, and if that isn't enough, we still put forth our best effort, pushing harder to kick the crap out of the bullshit that tries to hold us back.

In the grand scheme of the things, sometimes the curve balls are not that bad, and sometimes they are monumental. It's when they become so egregious, that we must pull ourselves up by our bootstraps and put on our warrior paint and let out a deafening scream, and declare war.

Our declaration of war is the ultimatum. The no holds bars, the little kids gloves are off. Blood will be shed. We mean business, and business will be done, no matter if it's shady or under the table or requires every last strength in us.

We are a fighter, we don't give up, we have the support of many, the cheers of the crowds, the ever lasting support of all ages, sticking by us, pushing us to succeed, to beat the evil that has beseeched us.

The support, the never ending love, is what causes us not to give up, to continue fighting, and fulfills us with the energy to make each day bearable. For without the voices of the indiscernible, we feel like we are on top of the highest mountain, capable to conquer the smallest of tasks and the largest of tasks. We don't give in, we don't let ourselves drop our guard, we don't admit defeat, we rise up and run into battle.

Lilliancat, you are facing an extremely large curve ball at this moment, it is one that is unfair, but you posses the strength and ability to stand up to it, and tackle it and bring it to its knees. You have the full support of the entire VR community, with this support and your strength, you will knock this curve ball out of the park and return home feeling 200% better. You got this! You will survive. You are surrounded in healing energy, you are supported by millions of people, who are all pulling for you and you possess the power to rise up and overcome the negativity of this situation. You are loved and embraced with healing energy.

Please stay focused, positive, know you are loved deeply and adored by many.

The saga continues - today I woke up and could barely walk - the hip was in so much pain that I had problems with mobility.

So I relaxed with my coffee and then tried to bounce into gear to get ready for my meeting.

While at my meeting, I wasn't trying, but it appeared I was trying to fall on my face at least 7 times, not cool. Then I get home, almost too a header getting out of my car.

Now I am home, I have to finish up some finance work - so no narcotics right now, but I am in tears from pain. I really wish I knew what was going on here.

Normally I am able to figure stuff out, but this time I am at a lost. Nothing makes sense. It's not like I fell on my hip, it's not like I did something to injure it ... just out of the blue it went from fine to OMG just cut it off!

Why does everything revolve around money?

Okay, so I got this notice about a really awesome program in Boston. I was all ready to sign up for it. It was pricey but the dinner options were stellar, and I'd have the opportunity to visit with old friends and learn something new. I'd also get to see some of my college friends and catch up with them too!

So to fly from my location to NYC it's like $125.00 plus $80 for baggage check in round trip. So I excepted Boston to be around that amount, maybe a little bit higher, but not by much. OMG - was I just wrong, completely wrong.

The flights I found, even on Spirit, were more like $400+ plus the baggage fee and then add a shuttle from the airport to downtown Boston (now yes I could take the train, but for craps sake, the incoming flights arrived after midnight & the T (train) does run that late! and a taxi charges a surcharge to you if it originates from the airport plus you pay tolls on top of the regular fare for the ride!)

Then to go with a hotel downtown - okay the one they recommended which is the same one they are holding the event, was around $300 a night, so I searched for bargain hotels - found one for $129 a night (refundable too) but it required a train ride to the event or taxi - not the end of the world at all. But once everything was added up - I was looking at $1000+ for 3 nights in Boston plus the event fees and then I had to add food and entertainment to the price tag.

Boston is not cheap and having lived their for my whole career, I know the places I want to visit and they aren't moderately priced, they are on the higher end, but oh boy oh boy they are worth it.

I did check amtrak - thinking a train would be cheaper - $450 for a round trip ticket! To drive it would take me 2 days, and require overnight stay in a hotel plus additional meals. So it would equal out to the cost of the train or flight.

So, I concluded for a cost of around 1500-2000 bucks, there's just no way I am doing this trip, unless I win the lottery!

Why not pack what you need and hop in your car or truck and drive there with your bf that way you both can take turns driving stop a rest for 3-4 hours than wake up. Go driving for a place that has breakfast then hop back on the road to where you are going stop to gas up when you need too. Once you are there check in to your hotel rest a bit there an go site seeing.

well that could work hon. I did confirm the event still had openings for the dinner and the bus tour in the morning the next day. I am sending in my reservation and then will figure out transportation. Too much to deal with right now.

Just a crazy day

So today was just one of those days - I mean honestly, we all have this kind of day. My morning appointment was at 7:45 am, so when the alarm went off, I cringed. I made coffee, ate some of my fruity cereal and drank a cup of coffee, rushed my ass up stairs to brush my teeth and comb my hair and throw on something easy - no way was I showering and messing with my hair this morning.

Then after getting my hip shot up, I drove up to my next doctor to get my last shot to rid me of this UTI demon.

As I walk into the house, I am told, you need to price everything in the garage for Saturday's garage sale. Not how did your appointments go, or do you want to have lunch ... but get cracking - I expect results.

So I rebelled a little bit and had myself something to eat and then retired to the garage, put some punk rock on and hammered through all the amazing treasures we have for the yard sale people to come on Saturday! :)

I about ran out of steam, when I was called back out to the garage to finish up some items that were "hidden" from my eyesight.

Once done, I collapsed in a chair and stared at the dog & thought I wonder if I can go to be at 4:30 pm.

Alas no the best idea, as getting up at 3 or 4 am is not always the brightest of ideas.

Needless to say, crazy day, but productive and tomorrow all I have on to is laundry & price some shirts i am adding to the sale.

But seriously, we all of non-stop, all day running around with our heads chopped off days.

Time to breath and relax.

Ah.... Oh boy. Hope you feel better! Stick to sneakers or platform shoes. Should be safer than slippers or heeled stuff.

Yikes, haven't done heels in IDK how many years! I have previously torn the ligaments in my right ankle bc a stupid landlord didn't put ice melt down on his sidewalk in Boston! I went for a little fall, twisting up my ankle and landing with the foot twisted up under my butt!

Yikes - when it rains it pours!

So, I’m living like a warrior right now.

People with MS call themselves MS Warriors. Well, I call myself a Viking Warrior having MS & 6 other immune system illnesses that will be w/me until I die.

I’ve had set backs over the summer due to injuring my ankle (ligaments & Achilles heal.) That resulted in foot drop issues w/my left leg, and in turn major pain in my hip bc I’m swinging my left leg when I walk now. To boot, I’ve started night sweats, at least 4-6 times a night I wake up soaked for no other reason but my MS is flared.

About 2 1/2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with a UTI. That’s par for the course w/MS (they don’t know why but people with MS get reoccurring UTIs like it’s going out of style.)

Now I’m allergic to 85% of antibiotics- making it difficult to treat me on any illnesses let alone a UTI. I had finished a course of antibiotics & the UTI had gotten worse!

Now instead of burning, frequency, nasty smell and cloudiness, as of Friday afternoon I’ve been running a fever, and (this the best part) feel like an iron claw hand is trying to constantly rip my pelvis out.

Now, with all that I face daily, I always say to myself ‘you got this’ and try to tough stuff out.

But at noon today, I caved!

I went to the ER for help. Needless to say, I drove myself so I declined pain meds, and after they got the dipstick results, they took me a cat scan & touched base with the on call urologist.

Results - given IV antibiotics, oral antibiotics & I have to return 2 more times, maybe 3, to get IV antibiotics. I also have a friendly kidney stone starting to make a home in my kidney. It’s just moving in, so it’s just wait & see at this time.

Outcome - hopefully within 5 days the UTI should exit my body & the death grip on my pelvis should be gone!

Then it’s wait & see concerning how long the MS flare will stick around. (Should taper off sooner than latter since the infection is gone.)

Regardless, I’m keeping the faith & staying positive. And laughing too, I find it funny all this goes wrong at the same time.
