“Are you even listening Mrs. Segara?” my teacher asks from the front of the classroom. My eyes flow from the window, across the room, and to this foul looking woman.
“Should I be?” I ask eyes locked on her.
Her mouth drops and everybody gasps. I roll my eyes and turn my view back to the window.
Why was I even here? There was no point in living a life I didn’t want.
“Keda, she’s calling a guard again” Riuk whispers from behind me.
My eyes shoot up to the phone, near the door. I can see the teacher dialing and her mouth start to move. Crap, my stupid, big mouth.
“Curse you all” I snicker to myself, closing my eyes tight.
“What are you whispering Keda?” Riuk asks poking my side.
“Nothing” I say a bit louder. Some students turn and look at me. I sit back and watch the door, waiting, anxious, and scared.
“Keda settle down, ok?” Riuk says putting his hand on my shoulder.
I look down and I see that my claws are growing and my skin is crawling.
“Riuk” I say and fall to the floor.
“Yes?”
“I’m so sorry” I say and jump out of my seat launching across the classroom at the unsuspecting teacher.
She let out a shriek as did the rest of the class. I could see the fear in her eyes, the pure terror, I enjoy it and then it fades. I was being held tight, my face covered. I try to struggle but it’s no use. After a minute I can fell the wind, and the sun hitting the back of my neck. I pull closer as I realize the danger I’m in. I have no idea where I am, or for a better point, who has me. I start to struggle again, pushing my body away from my kidnapper.
“Stop struggling or I might drop you” the voice roars.
“Riuk” I question looking up.
I look up to see my best friend holding onto me with all his might.
“Yeah did you think somebody else would have saved you?”
I drop my head in disgust as I realize what about happened.
“How could I be that stupid? I should know better than to lose it like that.”
“You’re a young fire-born you can’t help it. Plus I’m not doing a very good job at teaching you how to behave, am I?” Riuk asks setting me down on the front steps of our house.
The huge white/glass house towers over us as if protecting us, the crystal door slides open welcoming us back home.
