Well, this has been a pretty interesting Summer for me and the start of a new class for the Fall Semester. I have 14 students, 2 less than last year, however, I got to meet these individuals face to face for an interview to make sure this is a program they wanted to get into and that it was fast-paced with a lot of studying, esp with Kinesiology, my hardest subject. And I was upfront with them about this subject being the hardest.

However, during the Summer the Education dept tried to pass a fast law into effect by decreasing Federal funding for schools from 150% to 100%. What this meant for my massage therapy program was that you could only go over 150% of the state's recommendation for clock hours, or Semester hours. My program is 750 clock hours. At the time, my state only required 500 clock hours, but recently upped it this year to 650. So yes, I was still within that 150% rule.

Fast forward, to July 1st and the 100% rule goes into place. The college has me working to get from 750 to 650 clock hours or my students would not qualify for federal aid. Thank you state of Texas for filing an injunction against this law and beginning a lawsuit against the Dept of Education for overstepping their roles. What this means is the program can continue with the current clock hours. But I tell you, this had me stressed TF out all through June.

But this also allows me to reorganize my program, eliminate Saturday classes, and make the program a 3 Semester program. I've accomplished this and kept it to 657 clock hours. Now I have to wait to present my reorganized program to the curriculum review board which meets in December.

Anyhow, this has been my life all Summer. That and going back to look over all my tests for four courses. Yeah, that's been fun too. I have found questions on the test that were from a book that was from 2 editions ago.
