I sat alone in the room, nervous, anticipating what lay ahead. Time seemed to crawl, my palms getting sweaty, my breath shallow not knowing when the door would open and she would arrive. After what seemed like hours alone in the cold room the door opened and she walked in. “Are you ready?” she asked, feigning concern, “As ready as I will ever be” I replied. Then, it happened so fast, a quick piercing pain as my vein was violated, the slight rush as my blood began to drain from me………..
Into two vials to be sent to the lab to check my cholesterol and the state of my diabetes!
Just go the results back yesterday and the South Beach diet is kicking ASS! Cholesterol down to 156 (Hasn’t been below 200 in years), Triglycerides down to 197 (Have been running 400+) HbA1c stable at 6.5.
If this keeps up I may be able to stop some of the medications I have to take for cholesterol and Triglycerides! This rocks!
Oh…BTW I’ve lost a total of 28 lbs so far!
We've been sticking to the diet very well.
We are now in "Phase II" of the South Beach Diet...We've added "good carbs" and fruit to our diet. The weight loss has slowed but the desire to pig out on baked goods is pretty much gone.
Still, no white bread or anything with white flour - Whole Wheat only, no white rice, no potatoes...But sweet potatoes are allowed and make a tasty substitute! Brown rice takes a bit longer to cook than white, but is really more flavorful.
I have lost a total of 20lbs so far, Gina 13.5.
This is meant to be a new way to eat for life, so I'll keep you up to date as I can.
