Let's give this another go. This side of yesterday, the shape of things may be different. Thanksgiving will be different, and that's ok. Normally it's filled with family and cooking: gumbo, creative brines for Tom Turkey, and all the things that my Cajun heart enjoys. This year will be celebrated differently. I'm ready. I'm all shored up. I'm fact, I'm excited about the newness of things.
Change has been accepted with what I hope is an attitude of love, forgiveness, kindness, and a desire for growth and joy. This year, instead of brining Old Tom, I've chosen a trip. It's a chance to meet with old friends and to make new memories. Adventure is before me and I am embracing every new experience. I love the beauty of the me who has emerged from unexpected change. I'm grateful for what remains and what's to come.
In this season, I've made a real beginning toward giving thanks.
