Every time I see one of those workplace caution signs or the sticker on our walk-in freezer that warn of slippery floors, I think of ThothLestat. He is forever the little guy frozen in mid-fall. Must resist the urge to draw smiley faces on him with sweet little cartoon fangs.
Inspiration. I has it.
This is the book my group will be discussing on Thursday night. It's an amazing read.
"The Hiding Place" - Corrie ten Boom
I lead the group and it's been one of my favorite projects. It's great fun to read along with friends and share the experience and what you all got from the book. If any VR members have interest in an online book club, let me know. If there's enough interest, we should start one. I'd love to see us stretch ourselves and read books from a variety of genres.
What is your kryptonite?
It's not a logical response. For whatever reason, it unhinges your knees and turns you helpless. For the sake of fun, we'll have the lovely kind as well as the nasty sort.
COMMENTS
Nasty sort - mice and rats
Lovely - gardenias on a summer breeze
Nasty sort - physicians in any guise
Nice sort - scent of cranberries and cold air. Or head scratches.
Nasty~snakes, I tremble at even the thought yikes!
Lovely~ThePinja, definitely unhinges my knees ;) And when my son smiles or is sad, I am putty in his hands..
Nasty sort - monkeys, mold, flies
Lovely sort - power tools, a fresh bottle of Riesling, the nape of a woman's neck (preferably in that order)
*shifty eyes*
Nasty: Electricity
Lovely: Photos that have so much life they're breathing.
Nasty sort: Spiders
Lovely sort: When my bf sneaks up and hugs me from behind, kissing the nape of my neck...for no reason. :)
And then, I can hear your voice again, shouting "fuck! fuck! fuck!" down the skype-line as you recount the saga of the mouse loose in Joli's living room.
I'm smiling enough at this that I feel compelled to mention brain-controlling-parasite mushroom spores.
Oh god...I forgot about the mind control parasites in the ants! Augh! You suck.
...and I didn't get you anything :(
Happy 25th Anniversary of the Buckyball!
Really, Google? Really?

don't be dissing the Buckyball.
we wouldn't have soccer balls without 'em.
*ponders*
I love that first glimpse of him in the morning when his hair is still disheveled.

=)
I love that too.... When his facial hair is slightly skewed to the side.
Hrmm. Perhaps not the same.
It is the same...that invitation to see someone in a way that they wouldn't present to the world. It's a jewel of intimacy.

Ah yes... Piso Mojado, that post is somewhere in the bowels of my journal. The warning sign is still there in the parking deck; the puddle still grows and shrinks for reasons unknown; and the little silhouette man still lives in his state of near-peril. Forever. And ever.
Poor bastard.
