Spent a second weekend checking out senior communities with mom, Ray, her husband and daughter.
Narrowed it down to two, then one place. We've got a lot of paperwork to do, especially as my mom's friend Rudy will be in the mix as well (His veteran's benefits will be of a great help - lol).
Ray's been handling most of the stuff regarding the research on the communities; soon, it'll be my turn with the logistics of packing and moving. I already know that we'll be getting a POD; if there will be problems with getting my other sis and her sons with packing, I may have to fly down to Southern Cal to see that stuff gets done. I hope that that will not be the case though...
We later ate at a Chevy's...I'm so damn full now!

Honor: 1,020
Wow...thank you everybody...especially considering the fact that I'm just returning to VR on a more regular basis. I haven't been here for over 2 months, yet you awesome friends were continuing to honor me. I am thanking and honoring you all!
Finally...I completed my application process for health coverage on Covered California's website. My monthly payment will be under $60.00...YAY!!!
I should be getting info via email and in the mail soon. Thank God, as I have a lot of doctor visits and drugs to take. I'll be happy when I won't have to do much of either. (My heart is improving, and my blood sugar is good most days - so far, I don't have to take Metformin or insulin)...
Tomorrow, we go see a retirement community with Mom; Ray will try to see if she can squeeze in another if they call her back today. Mom is ready to move back up here...I'm so glad, as she is not happy being in Southern Cal with our sis Poo. Gotta' keep the ol' lady happy! LOL!
And I'm so looking forward to the 49er - Seahawks game tomorrow!
GO NINERS!!!
Spent the day visiting my mom at my sister Ray's house. We went to the local Walmart - the only place that sold clothes - and didn't have much luck finding anything. (Well - my mom found a shirt and two pairs of pants...in which I'll have to hem...lol).
The shopping area is within walking distance from my sister's house, but my mom wasn't able to walk that far...so we took a cab. The cabdriver charged us $15 to go a few blocks! I told him that it was a rip off, and he tried to explain how he had to come 'all the way from Fremont' to pick us up. I explained to him that we were not responsible for paying his travel expenses prior to our trip. I was ready for a fight, but didn't want to stress out my mom, so I paid the damn $15... And would you believe that when we were ready to go back to the house, we called for a cab and got the same goddamn guy? And paid out another $15? I will NEVER call that company again.
Anyway, before we left the shopping center, we had lunch. It was a new Filipino grill...and the food totally sucked. My mom ordered BBQ beef ribs...she got these weird shriveled up bits of meat on a lot of bone; I ordered a grilled tuna steak...which came with a lot of scales. We left the server a $5 tip, and I wrote this on the bottom of the ticket: "$5 tip for the server, who was nice; the food was not."
My mom and I were in bad moods by the time we got back to the house. We were cheered up a bit when my sis came home from work. After talking a little about senior communities that Ray researched, I came home.
I had to eat a bowl of Cherrios to cleanse my palate from that nasty tuna.
I got a noon meeting at work tomorrow.
Oh joy.
So - yesterday, I picked up Whiskers' ashes, and I also took Dust Bunny in for a check-up. I swear - it's easier rounding up cattle than it is trying to catch and put a cat into a pet carrier...
The vet was accommodating, as I didn't have an appointment for Dust Bunny...too bad she tricked them with her worm pill, as I found it in the carrier when I got home. They're gonna' have to give me a $22 credit for that damn pill, as I stressed several times to be sure that she swallowed it. I sure in the hell can't get her to do it, although I would have been able to do it at the vets with minimal help. And getting her back to them to give it to her is impossible...jeesh. (I know...$$22 for ONE pill...I plan on taking it back to them as proof).
Now...I will have to perform a miracle to catch Miss Kitty!
While a majority of the country is having a normal to severe winter season, it's like late spring here. I haven't needed a jacket yesterday or today...I guess one doesn't need to wear a coat when the weather is 75 degrees. Beautiful days, but we will all pay for it, as we have not had any rain in ages. Our drought will hit the rest of the country too, like dominoes, as a majority of the country's produce comes from here (California)
Get ready for water rations and higher food costs!
Still waiting for my health insurance to kick in. I have two prescriptions to pick up, but I think I can wait for a bit, as the stuff is very expensive...like Dust Bunny's worm pill.

Dust Bunny? Awww, what a cute name!
Oh, she's fiesty. Lol. She managed to trick professionals! Cute.
On second thought, if they were professionals, they wouldn't have been tricked! :/
It took me a bit of practice, but I am a ninja now when giving the kits any meds...lol
Tomorrow morning, I go to pick up Whiskers ashes...:(
If I'm lucky, I will try to catch Dust Bunny or Miss Kitty for a much needed check-up for an exam and booster shot...hopefully, that can happen, so I'll have only one more to catch...lol

That was a sad journey for you today. Hugs x
That is so hard. I still miss my four.
To the person who keeps giving me tons of honor at 9 points a pop...thank you. If you reveal yourself, I'd be happy to do the same!
Spent a better part of yesterday at the hospital/clinic, due to tardiness on the staff's behalf. I had two appointments in the morning...the second one was for 10am, yet I didn't get seen until 11:35...jeesh.
At least I got a flu shot...people here are dying at an alarming rate from the H1N1 flu virus (swine flu)...13 so far, for the whole of the Bay Area. Scary.
Standing in line for prescriptions wasn't fun either. Well, at least I didn't pass out this time...lol.
Since my insurance coverage hasn't kicked in yet, I had to cough up $80 goddamn dollars for meds...As a matter-of-fact, mostly everyone in line was pissed off due to insurance/coverage issues. And a fight almost broke out when one guy tried to cut in front of the line.
After stopping by my fave grocery store for a few things, I was finally on my way home. While waiting for a bus, this 'high yellow' freckled-face guy walks up and attempts to flirt and chat. As I don't flirt, and am usually not interested in random guys on the street, I rebuffed him as politely as I could...which was kinda' hard, as he didn't quite take no for an answer. I'm thinking that him having Down Syndrome may have had something to do with it.
Sigh...
While waiting for a bus, I witnessed an obvious crack ho getting totally frustrated with a ladder.
She was trying to get it up to a fence of the local liquor store...never mind that it was a broken extension ladder. She didn't need the extension part to get over the fence, so it was funny watching her attempt to get the broken section to work. (And...what was she planning on doing? Breaking into the store? Her dumb ass couldn't even get the ladder to work).
She ended up walking down the street, dragging the broken piece of ladder with her.

A long time ago.
There was this one ho.
Who told me lets go.
But I said hell no.
Why would I go....
To some place I don't know.
With some skanky ass ho.
Who told me lets go.
That's crazy, ya know?
I really think so.
No way I would go.
With a random ass ho.

I finally broke the 118 level.
While in a café waiting for Crunch's vet visit to end, I got a lowfat mocha and took a seat. I was thumbing through an outdated university catalog, and two elderly women were seated across from me having lunch.
One of them turned towards me and said "Excuse me, miss. You have beautiful bones."
I just looked at her with my faced sorta' scrunched up...like, wtf? From the look on my face, the woman could tell that I was at a loss. I'm thinkin' 'Beautiful bones? Lady, my fat ass is in sweats, and I ain't bony...'
But, I remembered my manners and said thank you. The woman then said that she loved the bone structure of my FACE. (She had explained that she was a sculptor). We all started laughing.
Duh.

This reminded me of that movie Legion where the grandma turned evil and started climbing the walls of a restaurant.
Beautiful bones? That's....odd. lol
But it probably wouldn't be half as creepy in person....at first. lol
Last Monday, I took Crunch in to my vet, as he was very lethargic, and wasn't eating - for three days. He'd drink water and pee, but that was it. For those of you who are familiar with my cats, Crunch does not skip meals...lol
Anyway, he had an infection on his belly from licking himself raw...still don't know why he was doing that. He has to wear a collar and take 2 antibiotics twice a day for ten days.
I'm happy to say that he is doing well now...I'm still trying to figure out how he managed to get that collar off about two days ago while it was still latched closed...????
It is sooo good to have a new desktop! I forgot what high speed internet was like...lol!
(Now...if only I could get my speaker to work)...
