Priest vs Skaters

01:07 Jul 31 2007
Times Read: 610

I've done some terrible things in churches.

They're tax-free properties. As far as I'm concerned, skaters should be allowed to do whatever the hell they want there.

It actually has nothing to do with The Actual Religions or The Church for me so much as all organized religions are swimming in money that doesn't seem to get used for any Good other than things they consider good, like Missions and shit. That just rubs me the wrong way... am I wrong?

Cue media controversy and racist supporters

Reverend Monsignor Geoffrey Baron, Dean of St Patrick's Cathedral, Melbourne, gets the kids off his lawn.

PM - Friday, 27 July , 2007 18:39:36

Reporter: Samantha Donovan

MARK COLVIN: The Catholic Church is defending the behaviour of one of its leaders, the Dean of Melbourne Cathedral, after a video showing him verbally abusing a group of teenagers surfaced on the internet.

The Reverend Geoffrey Baron is seen being harassed and abused by a group of skateboarders, but rather than turning the other cheek, he lets fly with obscene and racist epithets.

A spokesman for the Catholic Church says problems with trespassing skateboarders are long-standing and Monsignor Baron was provoked.

---------------

There was a YouTube link to the Priest going off on the kids, but it got removed. (Power of the Church) The Priest even hit one of the skaters.

----------------

SAMANTHA DONOVAN: The footage, posted on the video sharing website YouTube was apparently shot a year ago and runs nearly three and a half minutes.

It appears that a group of skateboarders has been ignoring Reverend Geoffrey Baron's demands that they leave the steps and paved area outside Melbourne's St Patrick's Cathedral.

Several of them continue to skateboard around him and taunt him asking him if he wants them to leave.

Monsignor Baron's demands become more abusive.

(video excerpt)

SKATEBOARDER: Do we have to go?

GEOFFREY BARON: Move!

SKATEBOARDER: Yes or no?

GEOFFREY BARON: Move now. Off the property. I will (inaudible) of all these boys. F*** you.

Get off the property. Get off the property.

SKATEBOARDER: Awwww. (laughing) I'm going to f*** you up!

GEOFFREY BARON: Off the property. Get off the property now!

(end video excerpt)

SAMANTHA DONOVAN: As the skateboarders make obscene gestures, taunt and throw things at Monsignor Baron he appears to respond with comments about one of the teenager's race.

GEOFFREY BARON: Get back to where you come from you spool. You don't belong in Australia.

SKATEBOARDER: You are racist you f***. Stop being a racist f***en freak. Don't touch me you freak!

GEOFFREY BARON: Get off the property. You foreigner there! Look at his sleepy eyes, his black hair, sleepy eyes. Go back to where you belong.

SKATEBOARDER: You f***ing bald prick.

(end video excerpt)

Do I Believe...

03:09 Jul 29 2007
Times Read: 630

Today I was asked if I believed in God. My response to this question is simple: Society only exists if there are laws. Without laws you have chaos. Man knew this. Thus, I believe that man created the concept of God and his laws, as a tool to govern over the foundation of society. The laws that man created to govern this society and maintain order are the Ten Commandments.

Profiles: The Journey of Discovery: A painting of self

16:50 Jul 24 2007
Times Read: 671

I create mine to be a self-portrait. I work on it, adding to it. Still painting, hoping to reflect from my canvas, true self.

In looking upon others I see them as work of arts. Some I visit are bright and the artist has used every color. Some are hard to visual what the artist is presenting. Some are like landscapes, and some are abstracts. Some works you must look by moving your head slightly tilting it to see what the artist has painted on there canvas.

Yet, all are different, for it is a look into the artist who created it. There own self. Some are a small works, which reflect many small details you look hard to not miss because it is offered as a look into the personality of the artist. The more you stare at the painting, the more your mind shows you. In all the profiles, I hope to open my eyes and see what the artist is offering. I find if I keep looking they all show paintings of self that say: ‘This is who I am, or who I want to become’.

I still work on mine, yet I make it simple as to what I am. I call my Painting: The Journey of Discovery of Self. The medium I choose is oils, black and white. For in two unpure colors of the spectrum, comes shades of grey. Grey can show much passion on canvas.

I still see many places on my canvas to paint on. What is it I create, what painting will show when I have filled my canvas? I wonder too. I wish it to reflect a true self-portrait of what I am.
