Dark Fate

The sun, behind the horizon falls,
The songs of the night begin to call.
I lie at my window, breeze in my face,
Wishing to go outside and give chase.
Chasing the bugs that glow so bright,
Holding out my hand, to let them alight.
Oh! What do I hear, singing a song?
The melody beautiful, pulls me along.
The shadows dance as I look around.
Where can I find it? This haunting sound.
I climb out my window, smile on my lips.
A long flowing dress flows around my hips.
The song caressing my soul, gets no louder.
I long to be it's one and only founder.
The whisper of the leaves above me tell
Of the mysteries of life they know so well.
I listen closely to what they say.
They tell me to pay close attention and not stray.
For the song that I hear deep in the dark
Is nothing more than the song of my heart.
"This is where you belong, Oh Queen of the night"
"This is your heart and soul, do not fight."
"For here in the dark, among us all,"
"Is where you're fate is bound to fall"
That's the lesson I learned on this night.
Nothing last forever, especially the light.
So this I vow from this moment forth.
To live as if I have only a few moments more.
For we are all bound to die,
And in the dark we all will lie.
