The Definition Of Love:
LOVE: The affinity experienced between two people who are naturally able and willing to tune into one another’s emotional, intellectual, and physical states.. And respond to them in a nurturing and a stimulating way.
At the moment when someone new turns us on, being “turned on” is the immediate reason why we become willing to love someone. It’s our “response” to their observable qualities.
But now we’re on a journey into the unknown. The person that we think we see in front of us could very well be a million miles from the person we are about to get involved with. We may walk in willing, but there’s no guarantee that we’ll end up loving. The problem is that compatibility, the key ingredient for a long-term successful relationship, lies hidden from view. If we could choose compatible partners based solely on their outer characteristics, few relationships would fail.
What time reveals is biorhythmic compatibility, the hidden compatibility that’s built into our physiology. It’s the underlying compatibility that makes both parties “naturally able” to love. It surfaces long after we find ourselves willing to love.
Love is a complicated feeling… A complicated emotion. Opening a person up to love takes time and commitment. When a person is subjected to severe emotional pain and heartbreak, they develop a “hard shell” around their heart. Meaning they are less likely to open up to love. This in turn makes it harder for that person to be open to the idea of finding someone they may have the potential of having a successful relationship with.
My view on love is a little more of a complicated situation. I don’t necessarily agree with the saying that “time heals all pain”. The heart can be scarred for a lifetime from the heartbreak of the first love. Then, heartbreak after heartbreak leaves a thicker “core” around a heart. Thus, making it nearly impossible to love again. But can be done!
Then again, when you do find that someone, and you don’t know what it is, but there’s just something special enough about them to break through that iron wall. There are the little things that reach the heart. Like every time he looks into your eyes, and you get butterflies in the pit of your stomach. Or the way the palm of his hand fits perfectly on your cheek. And the way he calls you “baby” in a way that every part of you melts in his arms. That’s when the emotional state is at its all time high, and you couldn’t be happier.
I believe that love is most often mistaken for infatuation or obsession. So how do you know you are in love? I believe that when you find yourself thinking about that person every minute of every day, or when you know you have this indescribable feeling that every time you try to explain it, nothing makes sense, but being with that person at that very moment in time is the only thing that does make sense. And being in his arms is the only place in the world that you feel safe anymore. That is when you know.
I don’t think that there is any definition in the world that can fully explain the meaning of love. The complication, the feelings, the emotions… It’s hard to tell when you know you have truly discovered the exact meaning of love, but when you connect with a person on a deeper emotional level that takes you way above the level of infatuation or obsession, you may consider it love.
