The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

Recently I have been marathoning a Taiwanese drama but today I took a break for my weakness, my Achilles heel.

Thai drama My Bromance started uploading; hoooo shiiit!

I found myself tapping my forehead and thinking I knew this title. Indeed I did, there was a movie by the same name and the series is based on it.

The movie is a story of 2 young men who become stepbrothers. Eventually they develop a deep binding fondness for each other and when their parents find out the family is devastated. The older boy is shipped off to the US and comes back with a girlfriend leading to an event that devastates the family again.



My experience with Thai dramas about gay life is that they rationalize it as love, purely natural love. The endings are usually satisfying and happy. The movies paint a much darker picture and generally end with the 2 men(I haven't watched any lesbian themed yet)part ways because they love each other but still have to be men. Being a man means marrying a woman, making children. Have I seen any Thai BL movies that had happy fulfilling endings? I don't think so.

This ending wasn't all bad; they will always be together, in a manner of speaking.

The drama is a different story. The timeline is a bit fucked up. The start of the relationship is told in a bit more detail but the movie ending seems to have deleted and rewritten.

I need to watch one more episode to decide if I like it or not. Probably Monday.
