Love Sick Seasons 1 & 2(Thai BL drama)

I wanted to post about this yesterday but I got side-tracked.

This story follows 2 main characters; Phun and Noh.

It started a s a web novel written by an author named INDRYTIMES. The producer of the series was captured by this story and saw it's popularity and potential. The writer also wrote the script and was very involved in every facet of the making of this series.

For the 2 actors cast as Phun and Noh it appears that this was their first creditable screen. This doesn't mean the acting was bad. In fact the acting was excellent. One of the things I have discovered that I love about Thai movies and dramas is the physical relatablility of the actors. They are clumsy at times, they are very human and unpolished.

This drama also lacks something that has become a cliche standard in Chinese and Thai boy love movies and dramas; there is no appearance of forced love between the 2 main characters. I think that makes it stand out too.

Can you tell I loved this series? I haven't even started talking about the actual story.

The story:

Noh is the President of the music club and comes to realize that his club's budget is way underfunded because they sent an absolute dunce to represent their club to the student council(Noh was out of town at the time). He goes to confront the student council and request proper funding but the only person there when he arrives is Phun.

Phun is the student council secretary. He explains to Noh how his representative was strong armed by the student council and then explains that the funds are allocated already and there is no immediate fix

But if Noh would do him a favor, he will help.

Noh says that he will do anything to help his club and Phun asks him to be his boyfriend.

This is not gay:

That is another interesting thing about this story. The main characters are not gay. They are straight. Phun has a girlfriend who he loves very much and Noh is really actually busy with his music and his friends. He loves music.

Phun's little sister is a huge fan of yaoi manga. Their family is very affluent and their father decided to introduce Phun to the daughter of a close associate but Phun already has a girlfriend that his family does not know about. Also, it appears the girl is not very pretty.

Phun's sister offers to help him, as the daughter of the family she is doted on a lot. She will help him talk to their father if he has a boyfriend. So he decides to create a play image for his sister.

Noh reluctantly agrees to take part so that he can get funds for his club. Somehow what starts as fake turns into something more serious and the boys fall in love with each other.

This series is not just for boy love fans:

There are other stories. The main characters develop a loving relationship with each other but do not classify themselves as gay. They don't look at other men the way they look at each other.

There are gay characters. There are some lovely flamboyant characters. There are straight couples and general couples problems. There are teenage problems.

The series covers sex, sexuality, domestic violence, cheating and bullying.

Finally, the music:

I am a soundtrack junkie. I love good music.

This series has a lot of it.

It was hard to find the right video. The song in this one is not from the series but the moments used to make the video pretty well capture the story in the first season.

I really just sat in front of the computer for an hour so I could watch the last 6 minutes of episode 4; Lovesick.

I am deeply troubled.
