Race day.

I was able to test the race timing hardware I have been working on. The race was a 50 mile backcountry ultramarathon in Northern Utah. Hiked to one of the checkpoints Friday even and spent the night in preparation for the runners to come through Saturday. We had been told there was a running spring with fresh water so we would not need to worry about carrying enough water for two days. They were wrong about the spring. We were also told it would be a moderate 5 mile hike to the checkpoint which they were also wrong about. There was no water and the hike was a very steep 7 miles. We ended up melting and filtering snow so that we would have enough water to last us throughout the day yesterday and get us down the mountain last night. Other than those two things the race and the new hardware appear to have been a success. In spite of the problems I did have a good time. Always up for an adventure.

Our camp. The tattered blue tarp was a bonus we found when we reached the top Friday night. Apparently someone had ditched it rather than carry it down the mountain.

Not to worry. I have survived much worse for much longer. It's not an adventure if something doesn't go wrong.

It really does come down to how one rolls with it. I would have included water in my prep regardless of what was declared by anyone. Good to hear your gadget functioned.

Final Countdown

I really like this video. I can't say I am a huge fan of the song in general but love watching and listening to these guys play it. I have loved cello for a long time and these guys nail it.

While talking about my fondness for cello I figured I should put this in as well. This is probably my favorite cello piece. I never tire of hearing it. Yo Yo Ma playing the prelude to Bach's Cello Suite No.1.

Yo-Yo Ma is the God of the cello!

And I agree with you. I can listen to this Bach piece on a loop all day - lol

Excellent music. Have you heard 2Cellos? They do plenty of covers, they even played in Elton Johns band. Plus I recommend The Harp Twins covers as well. They play electric harp.
