My last Valentines Day Poetry Contest Entry is probably the most 'normal' in that it is above all, the lofty promises of love - a psalm, if you will, of one's deep seated faith in another. Love can make us willing to give up ourselves in hopes of making a union that lasts forever.
I'll be yours
By FelixFelix
I'll be your angel
night's fallen hero
Honest and forthright
bloodied and forgotten
Martyr to
your angry god
your Protector
with broken wings
I'll shine white light
on your pale skin
Send shadows crawling
back to corners
I'll be your devil
your great horned god
pagan rituals
and wicked rites
I'll shake the cobwebs
from your eyes
I'll dance with you
on lakes of fire
I'll take your hand
fasted to mine
I'll lick your wounds
and you'll lick mine
I'll be your spirit
I'll be your ghost
I'll be your apparition
I'll be your vision
of wickedness
I'll tell you tales
I'll make you laugh and cry
in spite of aging
and in spite of death
I'll float above you
while you sleep
I'll walk beside you
through our haunted halls
Life wanders round us
unaware
Life feeds us
cold wet lies
But I'll be whatever
You need me to
Your angel of truth
Your devil at heart
Your spirit of love
I'll be yours
I'll be yours
I'll
be
yours
My second entry for the Valentines Day Poetry Contest is something only slightly less evil than the first. There is murder and there is violence and wickedness but there is true love here as well. Actions can be evil but love can make something evil seem beautiful in a strange and melancholy way.
Oh Valentine
by felixfelix
Samson had Delilah
but that didn't go so well
and Bonny she had Clyde to love
yes she Loved him till they died
they traded wedding bells
for bullet shells
and by the roadside they died
filled up with lead
filled up with love
and filled up with lead
and terrible love
beautiful love
love forever
life for never
Just like you and I
Oh Valentine
we could be terrible together
we could paint this town red
we could paint this town in murder
Your eyes are fire that scorches me
and you're welcome hell on earth
The heat of it that warms my heart
when your gaze starts to burn
My rib cage is bursting
You're the loving maggot of my life
Lets take it all apart
Lets take it all apart now
Until they cut us down
Yes until they cut us down
Oh Valentine
we could be terrible together
we could paint this town red
we could paint this town in murder
Ring finger
Trigger finger
Scalpels and stitches linger
rusty knives and gun slinger
Take me where the evil goes
take me down
Take me low
Rip my heart out
it's yours to you know
Lets take it all apart now
Lets take it all apart now
rip it all apart
and make the world scream
we'll feast on them together love
and make the world scream
say the word
and we'll dance...
on...
Graves
Oh Valentine
we could be terrible together
we could paint this town red
we could paint this town in murder
Three poems about dark love or dark valentines days. In the first entry, I took it at its darkest...describing something terrible and wicked that occurred in a small rural town on Valentines Day and the way fear causes people to strike out at anything unfamiliar. It's a strange feeling when your creativity takes you down dark roads of the soul and tells a story quite unforgiving. Even still, I felt that there was a moral buried here with the bodies and the lies.
Broken Hearts and Valentines
by felixfelix
On Valentines Day
along a dark and barren road
stands a tall and twisted man
with a love that's dirty and cold
a love so mean and bold
He would wait for the girls
heading home from the fields
and he bribed them with trinkets
and left their innocence under heel
Yes - He broke them under heel
Shame
falls heavy
with the rain down here
and the night
is a cold wet body
around this time of year
Shame
falls heavy
and it makes the roads to mud
and a guilty
man of murder
his love lies soaked in blood
Girls are picked like flowers
and the demons fill his bed
girls to sate a wicked faith
like stale communion bread
pretty flowers that he bled
and the rain that comes a falling
and the rain that comes a falling
and the rain that comes a falling
hides his wicked head
Shame
falls heavy
with the rain down here
and the night
is a girl's unheard cry
around this time of year
Shame
falls heavy
and it makes the roads to mud
and a guilty
man of murder
his love lies soaked in blood
Now the seasons always change
in this part of the world
the season of the reaping
for the souls of foolish girls
and a blind man's hellish world
And the Valentine approaches
and the county weeps in fear
3 girls gone a missing
on Valentine's last year
and only bodies reappear
A stranger's face ain't welcome
We don't know where you been
Valentine's a coming
and this county's filled with sin
and the nights are closing in
So the mob is getting hungry
and a stranger doesn't see
that a mob needs blood all it's own
yes the mob needs blood all it's own
the blood will drip and the stranger moan
hanging from the old birch tree
left hanging from a tree
Shame
falls heavy
with the rain down here
and the night
is a hanging martyr
around this time of year
Shame
falls heavy
and it makes the roads to mud
a stranger's innocence
is no reprieve
when the county's soaked in blood
So Valentine's it did arrive
and three more gone again
love is sweet and bloody
no thanks to mobs of men
shameful frightened men
Shame
falls heavy
and it makes the roads to mud
I said innocence
is no reprieve
from the Valentine's blood
The Valentine's Blood
I remember you
when I was 5
and first felt
that lightness in my chest
somehow
you were there
my favorite candy
even my first kiss
all moments in my life
before I knew you
all sparks in my heart
that led me to you
Like carnival rides
when you're finally tall enough
Like my first school dance
when you're old enough to want to go
The racing pulse
and butterflies
the fear and joy
to shout and laugh
that all these feelings
come together now
when I hear your voice
or see your face
So I remember you
in everything good
and I'll cherish you
long after
I've forgotten everything else
