The Voodoo doll is one of the most recognized and yet misunderstood magical tools. As a part of Voodoo practices, this doll is used to help bring energy to a spell and to help encase this energy until it is ready to be released. You don’t have to be a Voodoo practitioner in order to use a Voodoo doll, but knowing how these dolls work can give you an extra tool in your magickal workings, allowing you the chance to have just one more way to strengthen a spell or other magickal working. Having a physical representation can help to solidify one’s will and to help bring faster results.

Lwa means "mystery" in the Yoruba language and stands for the different category of spirits in the Vodun religion. Vodun, also know as Vodoun, Voodoo and Sevi Lwa, is an African religion going back to the dawn of mankind. As slavers brought Africans to the New World, Vodun began to spread among the black communities of North America, South America and the Caribbean. As for who and what the Lwa are, a simplistic way to describe them to a Judeo-Christian would be to compare them to saints. In the Vodun religion there is one chief God named Olorun. This god is then supreme over these minor spirits called Lwa.

Voodoo is a folk practice in which deities are celebrated and asked for guidance. Unlike other spiritual practices, the structure of deity can be a bit more complex, causing new practitioners to be a bit confused as to who to pray too. What’s more difficult with this spiritual practice is that the Voodoo beliefs have been changed and altered as the belief system spread. There are many different types of Voodoo practiced now, and each has its own ideas of what is ‘right’ and what is not.



The basic idea of deity in Voodoo is this – there are many deities, but only some can help the humans who contact them. There is a supreme being who is not one who concerns themselves with the affairs of men and women. They simply are there to run the universe as they see fit to do so. Lesser deities are helpful in connecting with the humans on earth, allowing the humans someone to talk to and to pray to. In giving offerings and in giving energy to these gods, the prayers may be answered. Pleasing the gods is always a good thing in any practice, but especially in Voodoo. By building colorful altars, leaving offerings, and being respectful of the deities’ needs, a person can enhance their luck, banish bad things, and bring good opportunities to them.

The next time the abuser tells you that the reason he is abusive towards you is something you have done, remind yourself that no one is ever responsible for another person's actions. The next time the abuser tells you that he wouldn't get so angry with you if you would just try harder, remind yourself of how hard you have been trying and how little effect your efforts have had on his actions. And most important, the next time you are lying in bed crying over something the abuser has said or done, remind yourself of who you were before you met him.

I am tired of people who have nothing better to do than to play the blocking game. If I am blocked by anyone, I will give them 7 days to unblock me just in case it was a mistake. This is a childish game to play but why should I get a penalty in my status if I don't share the same penalty back with you? Share and share alike so I have always been taught!
