Aphrodisiacs

I have received a few questions about Aphrodisiacs. An aphrodisiac is a substance that increases sexual desire. The name comes from the Greek ἀφροδισιακόν, aphrodisiakon, i.e. "sexual, aphrodisiac", from aphrodisios, i.e. "pertaining to Aphrodite", the Greek goddess of love. Throughout history, many foods, drinks, and behaviors have had a reputation for making sex more attainable and/or pleasurable.

Some Aphrodisiacs that I love using are

Chili Peppers

Vanilla

Garlic

Chocolate

Almonds

Bananas

Celery

Honey

Ginger

Coffee

Raspberries

Ginseng

Sweet Basil

Red Wine

Strawberries

Pomegranates

Fenugreek

Salmon

Cinnamon

Walnuts

Ginkgo

Now while all of these are Aphrodisiacs, all these things work very differently.

for example:

almonds: almonds are regarded as fertility symbols. The aroma of almond supposedly arouses passion in females.

bananas: bananas are loaded with potassium, magnesium and B vitamins. It also contains chelating minerals and the bromeliad enzyme, said to enhance the male libido.

basil: Basil not only makes the meals smell and taste better, but it also has a lot of beneficial effects on human body. Basil has a fantastic aroma that is said to have an aphrodisiac effect; it is also very stimulating. Using sweet basil in a pasta sauce will be sure to get your heart racing! Maybe this explains why Italians are so romantic!

garlic: Now, wait a minute! I know it’s stinky, but more importantly it’s strong, which is exactly what it will happen to guys. Garlic is chockfull of allicin, an ingredient that will increase blood flow. So, whip up an extra-garlicky dish and keep the Altoids handy.

honey: Sweet, sticky honey is a great source of boron, a trace mineral that helps the body use and metabolize estrogen, the female sex hormone. Studies have shown that this mineral may also enhance testosterone levels in the blood, the hormone responsible for promoting sex drive and orgasm in both men and women. In addition, honey contains B vitamins needed for testosterone, as well as other nutrients, enzymes and phytochemicals.

this is just a few of the many. but if you become interested in Aphrodisiacs all you need to do is Google "Aphrodisiacs" and you will can find reliable information. I suggest going to the medical websites or historical websites about the Aphrodisiac you are interested in.

herbs

One of my favorite things is herbs. There are so many different kinds of herbs and they each have unique effects. I myself take a few herbal supplements a day.

I take Fenugreek and Fennel: these herbs help with breast health. ( fenugreek is also an aphrodisiac )

I take Biotin and Collagen : for hair, skin, and nail health.

I take vitamin B and folic acid: both for "blood health"

I take Ginseng and Ginger tablets: both are aphrodisiacs.

I take a Black licorice supplement: black licorice is a miracle from earth. it gets rid of everything, cramps, headaches, nausea. everything. its awesome.

But there are so many things you can do with herbs besides just taking supplements. I LOVE cooking with herbs. I am very proud of my small herb garden. And there are many herbs and natural ingredients that are aphrodisiacs. Cooking with these can really spice up the bedroom. for example, everyone knows about dark chocolate and a nice red wine. But did you know that: Chili peppers, garlic, almonds, ginger, raspberries, cinnamon, salmon, walnuts, tomatoes, celery and vanilla; just to name a few, are Aphrodisiacs? if you cook like me, you use these things more then you notice! its amazing. food is amazing.
