Wednesday, Nov 29th the day the Jeep Croaked - Finally - sorta

Plumbers were here in the morning doing their thing, making big hole and noise, and they're supposed to be finished by Thursday darkfall...

The winds are incredible! I swear if I see a munchin floating by I am going to crawl under my 4 poster bed and call it a day!

I only go just under 2 miles to the cast member (employee) parking lot to take shuttle to work - I really live a mile from Disneyland itself.

Half way there my cherokee started sputtering and wanting to die at an intersection... a few cuss words later I knew that this was it, the damned thing is going to fall apart NOW, just please make it another 100 yards to the parking lot!!!

Oh noooooooooooooo of course not, within sight of the lot, the gauges shot up to the red and died just that fast. As I coasted to the curb, it looked like old faithful just erupted with all that came out from under the hood. I knew the radiator finally gave up.... called AAA and got it picked up and got dropped off at work and was late - which goes against my record... naturally - friggin car had to do this on the way TO work instead of home FROM work - that's because if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have none!!!

Wrote my dad a big long pleading, begging email for the 10,000 he had mentioned to me... anything to pay off the credit card and put as much down on a newer car that I can to keep payments LOW.

Made it through work ok.... a worker at House of Blues died - we got the paramedic call and got them rolling but he was being worked on when he hit the ground, but died on way to hospital... that was sad and depressed us all. With 20,000 people working around there and 50,000 people visiting, something everyday happens, but a death is sombering in any form at any time.. we were told later he had a heart condition and was a matter of time which happens alot to us at Disneyland - people come there to die, either naturally or by suicide every year - go figure.

Now I get to rent a car and find out how much and the damage report on my cherokee... I do know I just do not want to fix it with the other long list of ailments and fix what, a 9 year old car with 100,000 miles on it? no, just a stupid thing to do...

great, happy friggin birthday and merry bah humbug.. now how am I going to get presents for people?

Plumbers showed up and went to work in the back yard. I didnt know they had come in the back from the alley until I went out back to check on my Pumpkin - my lil calico cat and my lil baby to see the guys were there and she had taken off...

Im all over the place trying to find her and nothing for 3 hours.. until she finally in her small cat voice let me know she was out front and all covered in cobwebs and miserable. I was so happy to see her and cleaned her off and gave her a treat and she curled up in the sun.

Plumbers said this is the deal - 4000 to patch or 8000 to completely fix the old clay pipes and clean out the major blockage and roots - and until they come back out - do NOT use washing machine, toilet is ok, but limit showers; for one blockage is about to blow...

Susan - the owner's sister was here to hear it and she had the same thing done a year ago - what happens with houses built in the 20s, 30s and 40s...age catches up with you...

called George the owner and he was rather cool and calm about it. I went to work and got a call from George that dont worry, plumbers out on Wed to do the 8000 complete job...bet my rent goes up after the first of the year.

We got a cold front from the desert - santa ana winds - but this time instead of HOT they're cold and really really windy - and sucking out all the moisture in everything...for us southern californians having it dip to the 40s to the 30s at night is COLD - but I like it.. and in the 60s during the day. But power lines and trees are falling down due to the high winds.

At least work went ok.

Stayed home again today - Im usually off work Sun and Mon - so relaxed, tried not to worry about the plumber or my dad and got caught up on all that has been recorded on my DVR, ran to grocery store...and spent a couple of hours cleaning the bathroom after the overflowage... rocks even came out from the pipes! Did a water and bleach ratio and even then, burned my nasal cavity and passage with the bleach, but at least felt it was 'clean'... Roomate cleaned the tub and toilet for me. Then did 4 loads of towels of mine and Susan's and called it a day. Ordered Thai take out and veged... I needed it... none of the last couple of days was helping my blood pressure any, sigh.

Was able to talk to Mom and got my momma hugs over the phone..she'd help me but she bought one house before selling the other - thanks to my sister's nagging and now poor mom is paying on two homes and one has been on market since april and nothing - she's been over stressed and dealing with her own depression... but at least I got my momma hugs. She lives 4 hours from me now and just visited her less than 2 months ago.

Nov 26th/Sunday

Woke up feeling a bit better, been in my jammies ever since coming back from urgent care on Friday morning. Had to look somewhat decent to meet Dad on the 1030 train - he spent the previous day and a half with my sister and nephew. We were to have lunch, hit the musuem with a great Egyptian mummy display, then a movie and put him on the 7pm train back to San Diego.

Flush the toilet and watched it overflow - not just overflow but OVERFLOW!!!! Towels to the rescue and cleaned it all up, called the handymamn the houseowner uses and then went to meet my dad.

I was nervous because I had brought up to him twice before that he had promised to play bank to my getting another car because my poor jeep cherokee was in its death throes and I was running out of patience and cash to keep it running - not worth it and am on borrowed time with it.

We had a great time at museum, they had CAT scans of the mummies and very interesting stuff... my mythology came back and gave dad the tour...he has absolutely nothing to do with any religion of any sort - my dad the athesist - if he knew I was a pagan, well, I just dont want to consider that....to dad, there is black and white NO grey.

We saw The Fountain - visually stunning, confusing as hell, depressing as hell and we came out feeling horrible!

Got coffee at Starbucks and he whipped out the laptop to show me his nuclear weapon/bomb size lecture power point show he was giving this week..fascinating stuff - dad is a retired nuclear physicist and worked on the third major bomb to be dropped and some others.

I brought the money subject again - dad is someone I will not go to for help if I can help it, but this time, Im desperate...car about to go, have 2300 left on credit card due to major dentist bill, 1500 from fixing my poor jeep and other crap, like ads at 75 a pop trying to get a second roommate in this house - my rent is 400 a month more with only one roommate, nice for extra privacy, but cash flow sucketh royally.

Dad said he remembered promising me (he's worth over 2 mil and paid cash for a top of the line volvo a year ago) and said your sister's car is dying too and what I do for you, I have to do for her - ok so what can you give me? We had agreed on 20,000 and I'd take less, but I need help - it did not end well, and he said he would look into several cars I wrote down for pricing and comparison - he knows european cars but not american.. nor japanese.

Also while I was down, I got the famous weight issue lecture from dad - he hates how I look and constantly on me for losing weight because no one will take me seriously being a fat lazy slob which is what I project being so fat and no man nor job would want me, that I've been lucky so far with my job and no wonder I cannot get a date and with my birthday rapidly approaching in a matter of days and how old I am, I have to be careful and will probably not connect with a man of quality.

I came home depressed and worried, I just KNEW my car is on borrowed time to find a note that I need to call plumber for bathroom but to go ahead and use the toilet, just no shower for now.... I put all the dirty wet towels in washing machine and turned it on... minutes later, all the water in the washing machine was coming out under the old claw tub all over the bathroom, along with water from the toilet and the tub filled halfway!!!

The few towels left I made a dam to not get out to the hardwood floors (this is a 1930 caifornia bungalow) and ran across street for home owner's sister and she grabbed her towels and we did what we could - it's 7pm now on thanksgiving sunday weekend - naturally - never can do it on a weekday and not on a holiday.

We call rescue rooter and within the hour they were there - my knight in shining armor with a rooter in hand! 3 hours later all done and 294.50 later and after 11pm done - but that they would be back Tues morning to finish rootering the back yard.....but at least I could use the bathroom! I just paid my rent less that cost and included the invoice - owner is good about it that way - so I wasnt worried about that at least.

Crawled into bed so depressed and exhausted.

Thanksgiving Day and Friday

20:14 Nov 30 2006
Times Read: 748

Woke up with the worst headache, not to mention just about anything on the right side of my head was literally throbbing. Felt like my right eye was going to literally pop out and fly across the room... took tons of pain pills and tried to relax as long as I could - just flipped through TV stations. Finally made my pumpkin pie for work and drug my sorry arse to work and started at 2pm... over 2 hours later I drug myself to the Disney nurses and had a fever, not to mention my blood pressure was so high they were worried I'd blow a vessel...that's why I was throbbing on the one side of my head. Finished work and was home at 10:30 that night, called in sick for the next day. What an exciting holiday - at least Disneyland was not TOO insane as it could have been!

Friday I was at urgent care, and fortunately less than an hour wait.. had a good book and thank the goddess, my head throbbing wasn't so bad. Sigh, just NOT the body parts I'd rather have throbbing, but oh well..

Blood pressure was still high, almost back to the day before, fever was up a bit and was told I had the virus going around to just stay home on Sat from work and relax the weekend...that I'd had it awhile and nothing to do but wait it out.

Got pills for the blood pressure and wanted me to wait 10 days to come in for a complete blood work up....joy! Since I donate blood at least 3 times a year, no big deal.... now Im just worried as to WTF is wrong with me... great.. almost my birthday and guess the warranty is running out!

La Bal Masque Nocturne - Oct 2006

15:56 Nov 13 2006
Times Read: 762

Just realized I hadn't journalized my absolutely fabulous time at the Ball!! Had so much fun, enjoyed meeting everyone and of course, starting it off and ending the weekend fun with very special people, Sabastion and MoonMystic. Weren't their outfits awesome? Her sister is SO talented and MM did a fantastic research job on 18th century ball make up and fixed the three of us up with beauty marks and all :)

Was actually happy with the dress I made - and finished up late Friday night while watching Hostel at Sab's and MM's house. Nothing like last minute. After all said and done, liked creating something and looking forward to the next project; however starting earlier would be a wise idea DUH!

LadyLillian and ElderDaniel did such a fantastic job with the ball, loved the theme, the music, the candelabra and decorations...well done! Can hardly wait for next year and being available for the Friday night festivities and having more weekend fun!

Actually talking and dancing and hanging out with just names and avatars here on VR was incredible - Cancer has an incredible staff here on VR and to actually laugh and chat with everyone meant so much.

Until next year!
