In the moonlight, the freshly white snow covered the forest ground with icing bare naked tree branches that glittered like stars from the moon's beaming light. Veronica stood on her cabin's back porch, looking at the beautiful winter view. She took a deep refreshing breath from the clear cold winter air. She smiled as she remember her first winter day, many years ago, when she was five. This cabin had been in her family for years that, of course, this would be where she saw her first winter view because in the city you rarely saw snow on the ground at all because of how will they salted the streets and sidewalks.
She felt the wind move through her body, sending cold shivers up her spine that she wrapped the blanket tighter around herself. She turned and walked inside, closing the back door behind her. She walked toward her fireplace, sitting down in her favorite chair, leaning back so her feet could be warmed by the fire that burned brightly and warmly. She closed her eyes, relaxing her mind to focus her body and mind to stay calm and not think about work at all. This was her weekend to get away from all that chaos that sent her out here in the first place.
She put her hands behind her head where her golden brown hair flowed through her fingers. She yawned and felt her body become so relaxed that she felt herself fall asleep nor did she fight to stay awake, smiling to herself as she drifted into a deep slumber.
Outside on the street a little away from her cabin, a truck lost control on the icy street that it crashed into a tree. Thank god that Ryan's airbags stopped him from hitting the steering wheel. He groaned in pain as he undo his seat belt, getting out of his truck. From the spot where his truck had crashed, he could see a cabin just a little up the road. He bit his lower lip and stomped through the snow toward the cabin. He felt the cold wind hit his face with each step that it made him pause for air.
He kept moving forward, needing to call a tow truck to come get his truck also he had no where to go. He just hoped this person whoever they are will be kind to put up with him for a day or two. He hoped it would only be a day but who knew. He put his hands in his pockets and continued toward the front door.
