Ara Mantel had quite the gentle and kind humor that any man would love to get to know if they really could see her for what she truly was. She had lost all her kindness after she witnessed her parents death with the front hall while the villagers stood around her parents with blood on their weapons that dripped onto the marble floor, staining it with crimson color along the floor. She had kneeled down by her parents and wept for them as they slowly took their last breathes until they were still and motionless on the floor with no more life within them. She turned her gaze up to the villagers, wondering why they would be so cruel as to kill their King and Queen that ruled Mantel Village with great kindness and understanding. A elderly man had walked toward to Ara, rising his sword above his head until her loyal butler, James, stood between them. She stilled in shocked as she stared at James, wondering why he would save her from such a fatal death.
"Leave her be," he said as he stood his ground, staring at the elderly man. "You may not have witness such creatures within our land because of the Queen's magical barrier that protected us for years but as you've taken her life along with the King's. There is no barrier and you'll surly see the creatures that you despise so greatly very soon." He could see the fear in the man's eyes as he watched him lower his sword. "Since you would nearly destroyed all hope for us to become safe again if you took the Princess's life. Think about your actions before you make them. Do you really want to die the very next day with no one to save you?" The man shook his head violently. "Then you let Princess Ara live. So what if she is different, you've no right to judge her," he continued. "Since she has her Mother's magic within her and part wolf as well. She shall protect us with her every breath until someone stronger comes along and takes her out. I suggest you leave now if you want to live."
Ara just sat there on the floor, weeping as she heard the shuffle of footsteps leaving her home. She cradled her mother's head in her lap as she stroked her mother's black hair away from her face. "Please, don't leave me," she whispered as she felt very scared and tore apart with all her duties left onto her shoulders now. Although, she had made a mistake for shifting into her wolf form within her parent's ballroom in front of others who did not understand what they did not know. She looked up at James. "You can't expect me to protect these people now, do you?" she asked with her voice to raw and tight from her sobbing as she had become angry at the villagers that she could feel her inner wolf scratching at her walls, wanting to be released to attack those that had come to take away everything she cared about away.
James sighed as he turned his eyes onto her after he had watched the last of the villagers leave out the front door. "Ma'am, I know what these people did right now, well, it wasn't right at all. They had never come across your kind before. Just give them time to adjust. For now, just protect your land since it has fallen down onto you to protect us and your parents home," he said as he tilted his head to the side, making a motion toward the servants that had gathered onto the staircase to come clean up this mess right away. "Please, get up from the floor, ma'am. I shall have your maid draw you a bath so that you may clean yourself up and rest. Besides, they will come to accept you. I'm sure of it."
She sighed as she wiped away her tears that still ran her cheeks like a river that had no intention of stopping. "Alright," she says weakly as she turned toward the stairs, taking them one by one up to her chamber. She knew that her villagers would never accept her. They had made it perfectly clear tonight while her parents laid cold and motionless on the floor downstairs. She knew that from now on that she would do her duty but never show any emotion or not bother with the villagers. She nodded to herself. Yes, that would work than she would never be subjected to their cruelty ever again.
