I have a theory of Elders, you ever see an old man just sitting there for a long long time? Well that old man is in the deepest of thoughts, when you're a lot older and slow down you get to sit there and think of everything you did, the situations you were in and emotions you felt, basically review your life over and over.
While the young are full of life just moving at a fast pase because they are experiencing it as they go and are too busy to just stop and review therefore not gaining that wisdom of life. I figure that's why when you approach an elder they have stories, knowledge, and teachings ready to share. Just because its old talk doesn't mean you can't learn something new from it.

One part of my culture I embrace and enjoy the most is the story telling. The stories are passed down from generation to generation. All the stories teach good life lessons. It always amazes me how a story that was told over 200 years ago can be told today and still hold a lesson for life today. Here is one I would like to share that I recently was honored to sit on as it was told by a Blackfoot Story Teller.
A story of courage, come gather and sit with me and hear this tail, gather the young and sit as the fire burns. Once a long time ago there was a frog, this frog was a quiet frog, which thought of himself different than other frogs and always has been nothing more than a frog. But this frog was a servant to other frogs, but one day this frog was tired of being bullied and pushed around and decides to be notice as a bull frog that he was. The other bull frogs were the loud and bigger frogs in the lake and hearing there grunts in the wind that echoes in the far of night. One night he decided to make the most noise. Out of his mouth came an astonishing sound as this little frog to the dismay of all of the other frogs in that little lake, belched and grunted to the ridicules sounds of the bull frogs nearby. Silent calms the stills air over the lake as this little frog roars with all his might, but the frog learns to be a bull frog one must become a bully. He needed to stand with pride as he echoes in the night; his efforts are strong as they blast into the early of morning. But the sounds were different, he noticed a trend a trend that he was being followed by the other bull frogs; he had become the leader one day. The little frog had gained the respect of the other bull frogs to the pleasure of the sun. He was the mighty bull frog on the hills nothing is impossible to the power of the mind this the frog follows through and through with pride. We sometimes are put down and pushed around, but if we stand with courage; we stand as a voice; and no one can take our voice; Idle No More and be heard...

Very nice story. I also love stories such as these. Stories like these are fading away. I hope we as a culture can remember them.
What a great story Dakotah! I will keep your story in mind. Thanks for sharing it.
I also told this story to my niece and she wanted to know what he looked like to grab this frog picture. I want to become a Story Teller for the next generation coming up.
Don't forget dramatic emphasis....it's entertaining. lol
